It's been years ago but I bought a hi-amp alternator off Ebay for my CRX. Can't recall the seller but It was similar to the one you posted in the link. Mine worked great. I was running a Sony ES 5-channel amp, front and rear Diamond components and 4 JL subs.

ebay very good you just have to look for a good seller with good feedback and customer service.

 

I disagree with the above. I bought one and A) it have the wrong pulley on it, and B) it quit after 1 year and a few months. Lame!

 

Mine came with the wrong pulley too, but thats not hard to change the pulleys at all, especially since your old alternator has to come out, you can use the pulley off of it.... And mine is still goin strong!!! Ebay isnt a universal "Brand", there are many different makes, and sellers of similar products... Feedback is the way to go!

 

Why not look into having your oem alt rebuilt with upgraded internals? There are a few local alt shops here that do it for under $100. That way, you know it's quality and you can take it back if it's not.

 

The alternators are decent quality the only problem I have with them is that they dont make rated amperage until around 2500-3000. Idle amperage will be the same as stock.

 

The one I got off ebay is working great for a year now with a 1600 rms and 2400 peak amp and a L7 15in

 

just go to a local car parts store and pick one up? wouldnt trust ebay with sumthin like that

idk i just have my buddys dad (witch owns a starter/altinator shop) do all the work i need..ik one store around here that can prolly get them in..ik the guy tho so he would look for one ny way if the didnt have em in stock

 

FYI: A NSX/Legend alternator will bolt on a D series and they are rated at 110 AMPS.


All you need is a longer bolt for the top mount. I think I used a M8 x 1.5 pitch x 150mm length. I used a 1/2in long pipe as a spacer over the bolt in between the alternator and the bracket to make it a little more solid. The alternator is so big thou that you don't really even need the top bolt tight when using the stock belt. The belt is a tight fit but with a few turns of the crank pulley it will go right on. Make sure to upgrade your battery fuse if you do any alternator upgrades.

EDIT: The Acura Legend has the same alternator(since they both share the same motor series).

 

If you going to upgrade your H/o alternator then you need the big 3 otherwise you might be putting stress on the alternator. There alots of good h/0 alternator out there. Have you try Excessiveamperage or Mechman.

I have mixed feeling on ebay alternators. Bought one (160amp) and it lasted 6 months. They warrantied it out no problem. I believe the company was Alterstart and they did take care of me. The second one lasted a little over a year and was out of their warranty. I sent it off to Ohio Generator and had it re-wound to 200amp. They told me that was the BIGGEST they could go without changing to an external regulator. Needless to say, after spending close to $300 after shipping there, back and their rewind fees, its still going strong 3 years later. Well worth the extra money imho.

 

I am thinking of going the OHIO GEN route here within this year. After seeing your one eff up on the ride back from Orlando.
