My name is Zing and here is my non-VTEC SOHC.

Special thanks to :
  • Pat of RDR for the head work

This is just a repost of my original thread from the local site in MN. Thought I should share it with the D-Community too.

Nice vtec burner, nice.

good numbers also.

why not just use the NPR p29's or the pistons from the ZC?

Money spent on this was approx 2500. Car was 600.
There may be some restriction in the choice of header but got very lazy after the dyno. Haven't even washed my car since then (march)
FYI the motor did not like being advanced by 2. Lost 3 ponies and some trq.
Have not tried retarding it, should have done it on the dyno.
But as soon as Exo's stg 3 gets to me, another session and hopefully there will be enough time to try out different settings on the cam.
The plan was to squeeze some giggle juice that's why I picked the pm3 over the p29. But garage got broken into and the tank got stolen. Lost motivation when thinking back about the p29s.
This build has been very educational for the price. I've learned a lot from this little motor.
This is my first SOHC build.

mid range torque is alright, to make it last though, beaves suggestion sounds right.

a longer tube will help accomplish that? sounds almost too easy.

yeah if advancing it isnt the answer, then be cautious about retarding to far also. otherwise it should work.

I dont think cam timing will help, just hurt, from how short the peak is.

the intake pipe has already proven itself so im sure it will help as beave said.

but power is about right, I like and thats what I would assume.

Im diggin this car, remnds me of mine, nonvtec power fo sho!

we have talked about the possibilities of squeezing more out of this cam because there is some more to be had. but im sure this was a learning process anyway which i know the new stage 3 cam will appreciate.
