Have you looked at Precision's website? Also remember the HP number on the turbo is most likely crank HP. Some manufacturers vary on that. You want to find a turbo about 50 more HP than what your desired outcome is. Over spinning a turbo is not good, and having one at its limits all the time runs into a reliability issue.

Since you mentioned it's for a daily driver, I wouldn't get a turbo that's efficient at 500whp. Reason being it'll lag to the moon before you see boost. The T3/T4 50 trim will support more than enough power you'll want for a DD and give you a nice powerband.

I'm going to be using a 50 trim with a stage 2 turbine, .50/.63ar housings. Looking for around 300whp for my daily driver. You're not going to have traction with more power than that, so I'd recommend you rethink your power goals for your application before deciding on a turbo.

The larger turbo will keep him out of boost while normal driving. Meaning he won't be using as much fuel. Meaning its his DD, and it won't rob his wallet. Plus I don't understand how 500 HP is not a reasonable goal for power. It's not like it's going to see it every single time he drives it. Lag can be a good thing, and everyone knows that you have to brake boost or anti lag a 4 cylinder to get that power Rollin. You guys do know that there are vehicles out there that make more than 300 HP stock and are considered streetable, and some are even sold at dealerships. I know it sounds crazy to have a 500 HP FWD car, but it's streetable if you want it to be. Not everyone drives like a RERE every where they go. And if it's laggy, you are less likely to act stupid because you know it will take a minute to make power. Get the turbo you want for the power you want and drive that stuff all over the planet. Get some really good tires tho.

heres what i can tell you....

i have had gt17(aka tiny ass turbo) at 11psi and later at 16psi....it felt very fast....spooled instantly and pulled hart to redline....now it only made 170-200whp

had a t28 at 12psi and later....again felt fast, pulled really hard to redline....hp was prolly around the same maybe a bit more...

now i have an hx35...22psi it feels like a dog comapred to the other set ups...1st feels like a n/a d-series, 2nd above 5k starts spooling and whips me back like the previous turbos....3rd scares the shit out of me.....torque steer is f-in scarey....pulls hard as hell and i lose traction at about 6k on the street....its great for highway pulls and the track....sucks for your average street light to streetlight....i have audi/vw 1.8t pull on me by 3-4 cars....till top of second.....the gap closes in about 1/2 sec though in 3rd then i lose traction....it is literally like in fast and the furious when they hit the "nos" there pulling on me and then boom i just fly past em....lol

i sometimes wish i stayed with my old plan....t28 on 16-18psi ~300whp with a 50-75 shot for the track ~350-400whp....pull like a raped ape on the street and i have spray for the track if need be....easy 11 sec car....oh well

i turn my boost down to 16psi on the street and it only loses traction above 8k at full boost....

also i have had no issues keeping any of these set-up out of boost

i vote hx35 7-blade for your goals ....cheap and proven to last hundreds of thousands of miles at high boost levels :)

edit:

also if you eventually plan on 500whp+ i would consider a sleeved block....~450whp is the reliable limit on a healthy set of sleeves after that they may last 5 years or 5 min.

Forget the GT28RS. Too small for your goals and expensive.

Go to Goautoworks and look at the BullsEye T3T4 turbos. Personally I like the 50 trim better then the 57 trim. Trim numbers are only comparable if the turbos use the same size exducer. The 50 trim is a bit of an oddball amongst T04E compressors as it has a slightly larger exducer.

From my expierence the 50 trim will spool faster, has broader and more efficient compressor map, and flows more Lb min. It will deliver all that you can handle.

They also sell a Garrett version of this turbo but personally I like the BullsEye turbine housing construction and flange options as well as the AR.

Either of them will be fine though. It should get you to the 450hp but anything past that and you are going to sacrifice drivablity for hp.

The BullsEye also comes with a Stage 5 turbine opposed to the stage 3. It will sacrifice some bottom end but make up for it by handling the turbine flow better at higher psi levels.
