Look up Rushi's how to, and do yourself a flavor and don't shim the pump. If you reeeeally want to tinker, order a new spring.

Yes, I port the pump feed passage, and use a thinner washer on the pressure spring plug. I have been doing that since my old all motor D-series days.

the shims go inside the pump right between the gears for more pressure.

for all the noob planing on running a turbo set up you could install a fitting in the oil pump so that you can run a return line from the turbo straight to oil pump, you don't even need to run an oil pan keeping you engine temp cold since more cold air will run straight thru the engine.

 

where on the oil pump would we need to put a fitting?
