That's something else! I don't know why I never found that guy's thread. He does have a bit more with that motor, at least at the moment before the 0.095" mill job & 10lb of material removed while porting...

That reminds me, the F22A ports are most restrictive on the exhaust side. They'll benefit the most from porting.

Ikr!? I stumbled across the info where he posted in one of the k20 piston threads. And yes, he def had the supporting mods :]

What brand is that IM gasket? Whats your experience with the ebay gaskets do you think they will be fine for everything but the headgasket?

Nice never heard of these brands before, but it's from Japan so that's Jdm. Lol
I worked in the parts industry for half a decade, in head office. Ive always said gaskets "made in japan" are all good. Its because, theres really not that many head gasket factories in the world. If the gasket is made in Japan, its probably made in the same factory as OEM Honda (if they are even still made in Japan these days)

THe head gasket is identical to OEM except it has no serial number stamped into it!

What's the brand and specs on that header?
Busy Brand Busy spec. Lol, idk man, its a cheap ebay header! It doesnt take much to make good power.

All F22 headers are bisi-spec, don't ya know??

Tri-Flow stage 2? I'm going to predict 175-185whp with stock compression.
It will never see stock compression and run, the head is getting at LEAST .040 knocked off, maybe up to .060"

If it put down 185whp on its first "setup" or stab at the dyno I would be so happy!

What IM gasket are you talking about? THe red one? I think its street lightz for a K20A.

The evergreen gaskets are hit and miss. If its a flat paper or rubber gasket, it should work.

If its a rotational seal, it probably will fail very much quicker than OEM

if its a head gasket or metal layer gasket, its not even worth trying.

Just beware, the stock block has the pistons sticking out 0.002", leaving 0.024" of piston to head clearance w/3-layer HG. Going below 0.030" isn't all that safe. The F22A head has recessed quench pads, but going that far may remove them completely. I'm not sure how deep on the F22A, but probably similar to the H22 which I measured at 0.045". If you end up taking the block apart, you may want to sand the piston crowns down a few 10ths.

So do you guys suggest hogging out the exhaust ports or just a nice cleanup. J know you should never hog out the intake side. Just a thought. Just getting ideas for my build.

From what I gather, it should be made wider from just before the divider ends to the flange, the roof around the guide smoothed out, and the area around the valve seat (first inch) should ONLY be cleaned up with a flap wheel.

The H22 head is similar, so this may help: The Old One - Energy Dynamics : Articles

Hogging shit out is just not going to give you any type of good result.

Theres so much to porting, I would suggest taking it to a pro or just trying shit and seeing if it works and learning from your mistakes (is what I did)

Aaannnddd this is why I asked. I'd rather do it right the first time. I k We there was an art form to porting the intake but no one ever really tells you the art of the exhaust ports. Sounds like a good cleanup will be in order for my head. Nothing crazy just taking advantage to what is already a good foundation.

Man I'm down on weight huge since I started being a Mechanic.

From like 190lbs to 140lbs. Insane transition.

Way stronger, but way less weight to throw around. lol!! The F22 weights more than I do, I can tell.

If it didnt have to come down a flight of stairs, I would find a way... wrangle it on a skateboard or something... but if I try this solo, its asking for pain and damage. LOL!!
