Title says it all. I'm curious about you guys and how you got into this mess that is Hondas. I'll go first:

hi, my name is ahmed and im 19. surprisingly enough, i never used to like hondas and allways hated on them because i thought they were slow. when i was a kid i like muscle cars like camaros, mustangs, fire birds... but then i started looking at nice european cars. but i grew up to realise that their was nothing like japanese cars, so i bought a red 97 subaru impreza 2.5rs as my first car and at a verry good deal. any how i owned the subaru through my highschool years then it started to fail on me so i sold it and bought my self a 01 eclipse to realise how shitty of a car it was to drive, even thought the girls loved it, i got sick of it and traded it for a 93 sc400 with a 5 spd conversion, i loved the car, i smashed on hondas all day, it was a dream come true to me, but i got to the point were the v8 was sucking just too much gas, so i sold the lex and looked for a car that was good on gas, and i found a 98 honda civic cx. i thought about it and said, hek let give it a try, went to see it and test drove it, i liked the way it drove even though it needed some work, but it was at a good price also so what the hek, and thats how i got in to the whole honda scene, and now i actually recpect hondas after i did my research on how bad *** they can be even with a d series under the hood.
i dont really think i can live to sell it unless i total it, but in that case ill just get another honda :turned:

My dad bought me my first civic when I was 16 and could drive to school. It was a 1992 EX sedan. It was a rebuilt wreck but I loved it. I started out wanting to make it fast and furious. It came with a magnaflow muffler and nice tinted windows, but I added green LEDs to the inside because that was cool back in high school. But I was cheap as hell and poor as hell, so I really just kept it stock and rocked the gas mileage. When I went to college, I didn't really have a use for a car so my dad repo'd it (was still in his name) and let my older sister use it. She promptly totalled it.

My younger sister's Civic got totalled in a hit and run so dad used the cash from both insurance claims to buy 3 Civics. (The man has a talent for finding deals.) First he bought a 2000 DX sedan that I got. I wrecked it a month later in a bad storm. Insurance rebuilt it and I drove it for awhile longer. I ended up letting my little sister have it for high school. Dad found the other 2 Civics a month later (a 2000 LX sedan and a 2002 LX coupe). I got the 2000 and my younger sister got the 2002 since her car got tragically murdered and she wanted something newer.

I've kept the old 2000 LX going and still drive it today, despite getting hit on the passenger rear quarter (rebuilt cheap) and totalling it again from the front (rebuilt cheap). It has been totalled twice from the front, hit twice on the right rear, but still looks clean and gets good gas mileage. The mod bug hit me hard so I have all sorts of little things on it. Swapped in a fresh motor last year and it's running strong. I'll probably never sell it.

...

(as if I could. The carfax on that thing must look crazy and I'm too honest to NOT mention it's tragic history.)

Got my first mustang at 16. I've been hooked on Stangs and other v8s.. Was a mild import hater, but had respect for all fast cars, and the effort put into the rides..

Over ten years later I ended up layed off and got a job as a pizza guy. I was in dire need of a gas saver and the civic was my obvious choice due to the aftermarket support and the following. Not to mention the Honda reliability (been riding Honda bikes since 11).

I would lurk the Honda boards from time to time back in the day and finally joined when I got my first civic, a 93 4dr auto. I loved her. Bought another. Then my first was destroyed in a crash

I bought my first car, a 90 Thunderbird 5.0, and got it running. My grandparents wanted me to get something a little more reliable since I was driving about 12 miles to school one way a day at the time, so they asked me to look for a car and I found my 1990 Honda CRX Si in the classifieds with all I wanted already done at the time, exhaust, lowered and intake (I was a ricer lol). After that, there were no car guys around, let alone Honda guys, and after I graduated high school in 06, I found a group the next town over, and found more and more scene the older I got.

When I was 18, I met another CRX owner who helped me learn a lot and do a lot of work on my car and steer me from the ricer path I was going down. Since then, I've just been "the Honda guy" where I live, still not a lot legit Honda's where I've moved to for college (out now, still living here).

So one day I woke up and put on my 3 wolf shirt, walked outside, and remembered that I forgot to put pants on. Unfortunately, I forgot about the door locking behind me. So here I am standing outside in the cold with only a 3 wolf shirt on.

I decide to duck behind a tree to conceal my man parts, thankfully there was a limp positioned perfectly to hide my "morning surprise".

As I'm standing there rocking my 3 wolf shirt, waving to the neighbors as they drive by, and allowing a sapling to represent itself as a phallic symbol I started thinking to myself. I was thinking, "You know what you need?". Yep, you guessed it, I answered, "You need a bigger tree". So I went out looking for one, one big enough to hide my manhood. I knew there were a couple in my neighborhood that were much older than the ones in my front yard so I went streaking...

You can only assume where this lead. Sure enough some dad saw me streaking across his front yard and immediately put 2 and 2 together to come to the conclusion that I was the reason his teenage daughter's window was open. So out comes the shot gun. By now this fat boy is at a full blown heart attack sprint and I'm a flesh-tone blur.

Out of no where an Eagle came down and clawed this poor *******'s eye's out, must have seen the 3 wolf shirt and recognized my authority. So here I am 3 miles away from home, wearing only a black t shirt, standing over a massively overweight ******* holding a shotgun with an eagle perched on his eyebrow, and it hit me.

I've probably got some shrinkage.

Eventually, I walked back home and climbed in the back window. As I was enjoying my morning cup of coffee I found this FS ad on a local forum for a 90 Civic. Called guy up and bought it that day.

Well, started street racing when I was about 18 with my 93 Mustang gt that had head, cam, intake, and 150 shot. Started helping younger kids work on their mustangs when I turned about 20. The v8 scene blew up around here. Not a single 4 cyl engine around. When I thought I was gonna get out of the race scene, the kids that I once helped, started talkin their shit to everyone sayin their ride was the fastest and no one could beat them. So my goal was to beat them, with half the motor. So here I am. I'm tired of all these big v8 guys talking like theres no possible way for a civic to beat them. Well ive got just the right amount of drive to make that happen. And I wont stop until everyone knows whats up with civics.

In '96 I bought a '85 civic hatch dx. Blue. I still remember that car lol. I didn't know how to drive or drive 5spd. My cousin had a '88 crx si so he showed me how to drive it. He's the reason why I bought that car. Sold it a yr later and bought a '91 Civic Hatch Si. Red. Cherry! I thought it was new lol. Got it from a honda dealer. Put the down payment and was paying $280 a month of some shit like that.

That car, I did a lot of things to it. Engine was just Dc header, intake and exhaust. Body kit, roll cage, dropped on 15" wheels. I thought I was the shit in that thing! I got sooooo many moving violation tickets, I don't know how I didn't get my license suspended :pinch: soo much money on tickets. In '99 I stopped working, sold the parts little at a time and lost the car to repo :?

But in '98 '99 I always liked the ek 4drs. So I bought mine in '03 and the rest is history.

That's one heck of a tale, Austin... maybe you should be writing the president's bio? ;-)

I picked up a del Sol for my daughter so that I could get my Talon back from her, only to have her break the timing belt on it before I could swap cars. She happily took to driving the Sol while I tried to make room to fix my DSM.

In the mean time, gas prices were going up and I decided I needed better gas mileage than I'd been getting out of my other vehicles. I found a suitable stock Sol for myself and that's been my DD ever since. I expect it should be around for a while since it's only got 236k miles on it... these things run for at least 500k miles, right?

Wanted a cheap race car that I wouldn't care to wreck. Bought the 90 civic Si as a proven record holding race car. Now I'm "that honda guy" even though I don't want to be. :jerkit:

i'm glad i skipped great deal of the f&f phase. when i was a kid i loved cars, then my conflictive relationship with my dad made me hate them with a passion. see, i was this dude pursuing a academic career in comparative literature and phiosophy.

then i got a 1st gen suzuki vitara, and the passion started growing back on me. all the mods i did to the vitara wasn't performance related, but more on the what were the oem options on the market for said vehicle. after my divorce i had to get rid of the vitara and got a 1.3 suzuki esteem 4dr. gas saver, but suddenly i found myself smashing the pedal against other cars, so i knew somehing was happening. yes, i enjoyed (and will always enjoy) reading books, but racing started as a slow growing itch. suddenly i found myself doing small stuff to the engine to make it faster, but basically was octane boosters, etc. btw i fried a toyota engine by running octane boosters only, lol. yep, after suzuki, i moved into toyota. a 92 toyota paseo, biggest fucking crap of a car i ever had. the only thing i miss from that pos is the front seats made by recaro iirc. three rebuilds after, i decided it was time to get rid of that pos, so then i got into hondas, and to learn to wrench them myself. not looking back ever since.

the master's degree? fuck it. honestly. every one i know from graduated school are sucking dick and bending over so they can give a class to freshmen. i sell books. guess whom enjoys a secure job.

My parents let me pick a car after my mom drove my 88 Camry when I told her NOT to because I needed an oil change. She drove it for three weeks low on oil and then when I got back from Florida, boom!

It was a 92 prelude si w/o vtec. White, moonroof and the nice alloys. It had a jvc chameleon head unit as well. That car saw several different sound systems over the course of a few years. Then I got a jc Whitney catalogue in the mail at random. Then the rice set in. All clear tails, clear side markers and all led lighting came next. Then I painted the interior trim white blah blah blah.

After reading the jc Whitney catalogue a bunch I sold all the sound equipment because I had damaged my ear listening to it. H22 swap with jrsc was next :) and then after that I had an exhaust system made. The car was fuggin sweet! A week later my gf (ex wife) and I were going to see "Red Dragon" on the opening night. The exit to.get to the theater had a fork in it a shirt ways after you pulled off the highway. This Guy in front of me in a 99 accord decided to stop right at the fork. I was too much of a wimp and didn't wanna pull around him so I just waited there. As soon as he moved to the left I put my car in first gear and then wham, an f 250 with construction gear and those big toolboxes in the bed slammed into us while we were sitting still. The car was totalled. The quarters were crumpled up to the rear glass. The Guy driving the tow truck said that if I didn't have my sub box (empty) back there that we could have died. I guess it absorbed a lot of the impact. I'm surprised it didn't shatter but u guess I always made a solid box. :)

I cried, my neck hurt for like 6 weeks and u was without a car for 3 months waiting on insurance.

Next car, 95 civic ex coupe, power everything, del sol hammers, 5spd virgin! I was gonna do this one right, I said. I was an idiot. I put a hunch of flow mods and brake mods, lowering springs and tie bars all around. It handled great but wasn't all that fast. And I beat the crap out of it. I got 5 years out of it before it blew up, though.

Now that I really understand what I'm doing, my trusty 95 lx sedan will get me there. I'm the third owner and the second was my ed's father. I'm not counting her as an owner because we shared it and I drove everywhere pretty much.

My addiction started with the sweetest setup I've ever owned being taken from me after only weeks of enjoying it. Its been a loooooooong 10 years and have had many things happen along the way but I will get there......eventually.

in high school reading sport compact magazine instead of paying attention in class. i started dreaming of owning one. i sit there ill look at all the advertisements of performance parts and pick the best ones before i even knew a darn thing it was funny. well the dream was over rated because hondas are cool and all but i over hyped them growing up. i was more partial to datsuns and old toyota growing up then high school fucked it up.

bought my first car back in 05 it was a mazda mx3. did all the engine work myself, which really got me into the car community, asking for help...helping others with the same problems, rebuilt the motor by myself back in 06, then rebuilt my dad's mpv v6 engine in 07. and off i went, bought my first 91 hatch si in 07. damn car ran for 1 day and never ran again, found my crx in 09 and been involved here since 07.

My first car was a 1991 CRX. Which I've owned for almost 16 years now.

My very first Honda was a 94 ex coupe. Bought it off my bro. Had it only 4 months then my wife spun it out and totaled it. Been waiting patiently for 2 years to get another car. Been driving a pile of shit Hyundai accent. I hate that damn thing. But I got hooked on Hondas when my bro bought his first civic in 96. 91 dx 4 door. That car was badass! That's what I'm looking for now. Just no money! Lol

The block in my sig if from said car. Gonna turbo it and drop it into a 4 dr

well, I'm a little older than most of you here...

back in the late 70's and early 80's, growing up in central CA, my father was into micro car's and autocrossing.
He always owned a bunch of different makes/models, half of them not running.
Lots of mini's, etc....
Anyways, at the age of about 10, I learned how to drive a stick shift in a two stroke honda 600. My dad owned a few of these, along with a CVCC.
In fact I have fond memories of us three boys and two neighbor kids piling into the CVCC every morning for school (no seat belt laws back then)

So, in 88 my dad buys his first new car ever. Yep...a crx si.

I actually started out driving a 71 superbeetle when I got my license in 88, cause that is what my buddies were driving. We modified them and autocrossed them down in south florida

Dad got into other small performance cars, like the omni GLH turbo, suzuki swift GTi, Isuzu Imark RS, etc...and in 98 I inherited the 88 crx si after 230K miles had racked up on it's odometer.

At the time I was road racing motorcycles and didnt spend a dime on modifying the crx. Try new tires every race at about 350 a pop, and you can see that road racing took all my discretionary money.

Fast forward to 2004, and I spent a year building my first road race car, an 89 Suzuki Swift GTi...built out of two non running swift's and a junkyard motor...mostly because it was all free from my dad's ever expanding collection of mostly non running projects.

I sold the 88 crx si to buy a tow vehicle.
Biggest mistake I ever made.
Sold it to a teenager two blocks over for a grand, and after about 4 months he blew something up, and it sat in his driveway for a bit, then just disappeared.

So, got into other cars for a while...ran a 94 miata R package with supercharger and kosei's for a bit, etc...

2007 rolls around, and gas is getting really f'ing expensive.
So, I find a 93 eg hatchy, dx,bone stock...for it's high mpg's.
Then a year later I get the 91 crx dx for it's 40 mpg's, and figure I'll restore both of them.

replaced just about everything on the eg suspension, and was getting ready to do the crx and maybe replace a motor or two, when the little boy came along.
When that happened, I ran out of time and money...stopped road racing, sold the race car, etc....

still have both honda's, but may be selling one soon, and just keeping the eg hatch.

When I was 16 getting my first car, I wanted a 240sx (for mad tite drifting of course) Since I wasn't buying = I wasn't choosing. Ended up with a '96 Accord with a ton of miles. But it ran great, got me everywhere and across the country from NC. Blew through the 2nd tranny out here in NM :( Living with my gf (wife now) couldn't afford to have it fixed, along with the other problems you end up with at 240k miles, sold it for half of what the suspension was worth. That will be the one car I will always wish I could've kept. But.. onwards with the future.. and hopefully another Honda! :p
