what year chassis and what ecu


and is this a recent problem or did it always act this way?

 

Much too vague, we need more details on the set up. I know my car did this when my water temp sensor was disconnected and thus my idle control valve wasn't functioning

 

Its a d16y7 on a 97 ek coupe. It is vitara/eagle rods. Arp headstuds cometic multilayer gasket. Supertech valve springs. Aem cam gear. It is a obd1 p28 s300. I messed with the idle screw after i posted and it dropped the idle down to about 900-1000( warmed up engine to normal temp) but then i had to hold the gas a little when starting and also when i am driving and switch gears or push the clutch or go in neutral it drops down so low it almost stalls.

 

are you using a 2 wire IAC valve?

 

Yes i am using two wire

 

Are you using a stock flywheel? as light flywheels tend to drop the rpms quickly.

 

Also when you switched to the 2 wire IACV did you modify the wires at the ecu harness connector?

 

Yes i do have a lightweight flywheel
