experiMental cheap hoarD

So I figured I needed something to clear my head ,
a gateway to help get back to my roots...

The subject is a purple cx hatch with a busted tranny that I scooped up for 200$$$...

hopefully that 1MW clutch finds its way onto one of these welf builds, I want to see what it was capable of!

so over time I collected parts and modified as needed to build the block .

y7 block
std bore vitara's deburred and dull polished
custom length rods arp bolts
clevite bearings
used ARP headstuds
copper spray used headgasket
ported oil pump
enlarged oil passage hole in main bearings
crankshaft- oil passages chamfer mains ,chamfer and tear drop rods."micro polished" journals welf method 800grit spun with a shoe lace .

on my travels to the auto grave yard I picked up a few things :)

The head

y8 clean minimal valve guide movement,installed new seals ,did some wack ass porting and shaping ,,,,remember this is all about being experiMENTAL...
locked vtec
used a z1 cam and roller rocker ass .


y8 intake springs all around


and a sweet valve job ,done in yard. Something picasso could be proud of.

What better material for a sink trap but an actual sink trap


clutch most likely a mistake sure oem would have been just as good...

intake mani is from a b7 I cut down the the fuel rail mounts and drilled out the bungs to fit the short body bigger top seal injector.
injectors are new take off bosch shorties that I uncapped ,flow tested them into cheeze whiz jars and measured the amounts, they are within 3% of each other.


pizza and beer to enjoy the view

The turbo is from an eagle talon got the bov too .

The help



flux core goodness intercooler piping 2 inch cold side 2 1/4 hot side mmm pie. on one of my adventures I had bought about 40ft of different sizes lengths of pipes at an auction for 5$ I was all like Hebs Yeah I want .

Couplers are a mix of left over Chinese dinner and cut up rad hose lengths.
T-Bolt clamps got here straight off the boat 10 for 20$ to my door ,decent but the nuts look fragile .


more pie for 3" DP, 4ft lengths stainless half price at summit racing.

turbo oil feed 4AN braided got these at a garage sale for 1$ each wtf I'll take them all.fittings are a mix of homemade from used and china.brazed the hole closed on the fitting at the turbo and drilled it to the proper restricted size.



I almost feel bad putting a new intercooler on here with all the bastard ass make shift junk around it.

head lights are clear now ,went to town on them with some 1500 then 2000 grit wet dry then with a rag smeared in tooth paste then just a soft rag , 4 beers and 5 J's later they are looking alright

Bout time you posted where are your other two cars?
about the crank work ,I don't condone that kind of behavior ... :) but we'll see .

about the other rides, well the rat mobile is running strong still my daily ,
I haven't done much with the 99 hatch ,was driving it N/A but I'm finding the ride is too harsh being so low and it really doesn't help that I fucked my spine up Last year.
so probably look into some softer springs that are a little more spine friendly .

so for the ecu I went with a p06, chipped that bitch and put her to work.]
got an obd1 to obd2a conversion harness this time, Chang takes good care of me it cost 14$ to my door, .


snatched a 2.0 bar map sensor from a wreaked cobalt ss that was at the scrap

Using my ostrich and a china nokia cable I'm slowly getting it tuned on crome, A/F from Lc-1 wideband .

running 5psi right now, rev limit set at 6500rpm.
