I saw on some forums guys putting vinyl lettering on their calipers and then clearcoating them. After being in the sign business I can assure you vinyl letters will NOT withstand the high temps that brake caliper gets.
So let me show you the way to letter them correctly so they will last.First off taking shortcuts can save you time if you know the way ,but usually end up taking longer. So here we are going to remove the caliper and using the proper size bolt to plug the bleed and feed holes, we are going to sandblast the caliper ,removing all dirt and debris bringing back the bare metal. Now you can sand or grind smooth the area you want the letters.
After deciding what color you want the letters to be ,spray paint the area this color.
After the paint dries lay down your letters and make sure the edges are secure.
Now spray the whole caliper the color you want the caliper.Use 2 or 3 coats as neccessary.
Before the paint is completely cured carefully remove the vinyl letters ,revealing the paint underneath.
Now you can clearcoat for a shiny finish if desired, let cure and replace and bleed calipers.
