hey i converted my car it was a auto now its a manual but something is wrong its always accelerated when i tun it on and it wants to like die when i shift down it like spittin low rpm the map sensor is conected idk what else it could be i think i have the automatic ecu in it do u think its that ?
Yes. It's the auto ECU. You need to crack it open. Cut jumper R17 and R18
and then solder a jumper wire on R18. It's very, very, very easy.
Here's a pic -

hey thanks idk i bought the engine like that and i think it has the auto intake manifold and it also has the auto harness cuz i had to do something with some cables the reverse and some others and no i dont think the cable is too tight some told me that i had to change the cable.... thanks for helpin :)

Is the idle screw set too high? Is your throttle cable too tight? Did you replace JUST the tranny, or did you change the intake manifold as well? Need alittle more info..

If your using a 5spd ECU, you can actually just cut all the auto tranny plugs right off the harness if you wanted. The 5spd ECU doesnt look for them, so you'll be fine. No CEL's or anything.

Can we go back to the part about the tranny bracket,

This thread is pertaining to 96-00 civics you say and it seems that you say that you just bolt a new mount in? This is not the case on my car, ive been trying to change my tranny mount since i got the car. (2 years)

The holes that the normal std tranz mount would bolt to on the frame rail are not drilled and tapped like they should be so what is your way around this ? I didnt see anything that pertained to this mount issue.

The mount on the frame is the same between auto and 5spd. The upper tranny bracket, and front torque mounts are different between auto and 5spd. The rear T bracket is the same, though. When I did my swap, the only thing I had to change was the upper tranny bracket (one that bolts onto the tranny), and the front torque mount. I dont see how they arent drilled and tapped, b/c the auto and 5spd mounts are identicle, so they should be there for the auto trans.

sweet ..thats good to know .. also would the auto harness be plug and play only? .. thx
Depending on your current setup, you may have to extend the MAP sensor, and rewire the IACV. Other than that, its plug and play. Oh, you'll have to wire in a reverse sensor, too.

hmm i plug up everything fine .. beside the few extra plugs that go on the tranny .. but i also got a few extra plugs left too but all my plugs on the motor are fill up already .. so i hookd up everything and try to start my car .. i get crank but im not getting any fuel or sparks .. do i need to repin my ecu? .

i have a obd2a LX 5 speed motor and using a obd2a DX auto engine harness

well finally got it running .. turns out it was my ecu .. i was running my DX ecu instead of my LX one .. misplaced the LX and finally found it today .. so threw it on and voila it worked .. but after taking for a test drive im getting CEL now .. throwing code 71 n 73 .. random misfire .. ill check spark plugs and wires and dist cap tomorrow .. thanks guys

I see this thread hasnt been used in a couple months but I'm in the beginning stages of converting my 96 civic ex to manual (tranny out & car stripped down) and I am still have some concerns with the wiring. (keep in mind that my electrical knowledge is quite.. simple)

1. I would prefer to run the thick/black starter wires to the clutch so that the car only starts with the clutch pressed in. I've read many auto-manual threads but none seem to touch on this in depth. any detail (pictures, parts to buy, etc) would be very helpful.

2. Every thread that I have read seems to have a different way to hook up the reverse lights (most of them still confuse me). if anyone has the time to give a step by step walk through of this as well i would really appreciate it.

Alright, I read most of this writeup in another forum and here, and I'm still wondering a few things...

First off, I've got a '96 EJ6 hatch w/ a Y8 headswap and a 99 EX transmission. I bought it this way. The VTEC is NOT wired in yet....and here's why....

It's running off the ATX ECU currently, that has been CROME'd "for boost." I've got a another P2P ECU I believe that says '97 SOHC VTEC on it, and I'm assuming it's manual. I know that I need to wire the VTEC solenoid to it and a knock sensor, but with that ECU will I get my necessary MTX "options" running? Am I hitting some sort of rev limit right now (I don't have a tachometer)?

Once I get the VTEC wired up and pop this ECU in, what sort of codes might I get? I've got the ATX harness still, so there are some solenoids in the bay that are just ziptied together, and I'm assuming there is no code for them right now because of the CROME tuning? I don't wanna wire up the VTEC then throw crazy codes for putting a stock ECU in the car. I know the reverse lights still wont work because there isn't a switch on there, but will I need to use the clutch to start the car, etc?...

I would donate mine for the thread but I cannot find them since mine was done so long ago..

Nice writeup, pretty much all inclusive.
Well thanks anyways! Just to help the noobs.
