I´m trying to build my rex for spl, tryng to get into the 152-155 db´s.

My autotek amp is 1500 watts stable at 1 ohm.

I´m looking on this subs

http://cgi.ebay.com/2-AUDIOPIPE-POW...FER-/250630342457?cmd=ViewItem&pt=Car_Subwoofers_Enclosures&hash=item3a5abb8739

or just one 12 like this

Used Orion HCCA 12'' Dual Voice Coil Subwoofer - eBay (item 150440565538 end time May-11-10 21:24:12 PDT)

or this diamond:

PAIR DIAMOND AUDIO D612D4 12" Car Audio 2) Subwoofers - eBay (item 350352670208 end time May-17-10 18:00:02 PDT)

I can´t afford more than 300-350 bucks on the subs,

Also was looking about some L7´s or CVX refurbished

Please help me to take the better choice, if it´s necesary I´l upgrade the amp.

Orion wired at 2 ohms. in a slot vented box built for you based on the sub, and your goals.

no mater that you do your amp only pushes 750 W at 2 Ohms, so running one sub would not utilize your amp... however i would use a different one anyways.

You can run only one sub you just need a Dual 2ohm sub, wire it to a 1 ohm load. You need to realize that it is not only the sub and amp, but also the supporting mods-0 guage wire, battery, Alternator ect. You will be very hard pressed to meet your goal at your budget.

Well I can tell you this Hugo, you will not get to 150's on 1500 watts. Try more than doubling that and you might get close. You're gonna need a good 1500-2000 watts RMS of real power per sub for those goals. Stay away from those Audiopipe subs too. They make badass little amps but their subs are meh. The orion is a very good sub and those DA's for the price are decent. SPL comps are just like drag racing. It takes $$$ to get loud.

this... however im not really a fan of the new HCCA's

on a side note... you can hit 150's with less than 1000 watts and a single sub... if you know what your doing, but it wont play music at all and it would have to be in the perfect vehicle/box combo ;)

trying to find good prices and different options, if I like any sub on ebay, I´ll find the dealer.
for an amp on the cheap... audiopipe AP30001d... 3k rms CEA rated at 2 ohms, even more if you get an older silver one that has no low impedance protection

I can get 2 ap1500.1 for about 130.00 each, but the ap3000.1 goes for 450.00,

It is a good idea to get 2 ap1500.1 linked ???

..........really? you can hit a 150 with 1000 rms.. everything is on the design not as much wattage as you can throw in it.

and if you want a sub that will do decent numbers look into the DD 3500 series, or the dd 9500 series that will get you some where and get someone who knows how to build a design for your crx.

i would prefer you to get a 3500 the difference is the motor in the sub that is the difference from the 9500 and 3500.

what´s the secret to hit 150 with 1000 rms, what amp and subs ????

maybe I can get a good deal on two dd3512´s, what do you know about this subs ???

:3dtard:

well, if you do go to world finals look inside of most crx's you will see most are up fired with ports to the hatch.

there is quite a few crxs with 6 L5 Kicker subs, pushing mid 160s

--------------------------------

when we busted a 154.6 we used 2 DD 3500 10" subwoofers with a DD M3 Amp. the amp is like 2800 RMS or something like that and burst is 6k......

but we never bursted it at 6k, we built 2 PVC 3/4 Tubes with snorkle tubes, and hours of tuning was done to it.

your biggest problem will be cancelation and the correct box.

how serious are you into car audio and what are you really looking to spend...?

ill help you out the best i can, also what kind of deal did you get on the 3500 12's.

i do own a car audio shop in south sioux city, ne and i am an authorized DD dealer so i can help you out on stuff as far as i can go.

psssst the "CRX box" is old news. I'm just sayin 150 on 1000rms no matter the enclosure and sub combo will not be done on a --->TERMLAB<--- as Hugo has been metering on. Believe me I'm not new to car audio. Also a shop owner and also built many state and now World Record holding spl cars. We just broke the record at Daytona Spring Break Nats in a CRX with 2 10's. It took nearly 10k watts and 66hz FYI.

Cdawg... your trying to make it sound like its super easy to accomplish 150's on a termlab period...

THAT IS NOT TRUE

and do you have solid proof of ALL these people doing more 150's and up with less than 1000 watts rms?

I can think of less than 5 who have ever been able to do it consistantly, and they have all been world champions at one time or another... i can prove all of that

now lets see yours ;)

i might add that the lowest that i currently know of was 150.1ish (termlab) with a single 18" RE audio SX on an ooooldschool Lanzar OPTI 150.2

i never once said i had a low wattage spl set-up and i showed proof in 06 right there there is over 8 people doing it, look on the link.

im working on my spl build at the moment, i will post pictures thats no problem, and if you're talking about the tubes i will have to contact the guy we built them for to get them.

This is all great but is it helping the OP out in any way? Hugo you are going to have to put a lot of research into different box designs and setups. The one problem you are going to run into is finding a termlab mic nearby to test your new box designs.

#33 ·
I'm going to have to bust your balls then lol. Those were on Audio Control meters or the older gen TL which are far more foregiving than todays mics. I know this as I metered 155's at USACI events, 152's IASCA, and 163's audiocontrol for a local MECA.

Not saying its impossible I'm saying GOOD LUCK doing so. Your what 22 and own a shop? I find that hard to believe but if so, congratulations that's quite impressive. But I probably have trophies from when you were just learning what a boner was. Lets not get in a bitching war over car audio and get back to helping Hugo here. Yes it can and has been done but it is not easy nor is it "cheap" to do. He will not do 150's on 1000watts on a budget end of story.

Here ya go. edit: should mention this was sealed up on the dash world finals calibrated termlab

Dwayne Morgan 155.9 dB Video by D.B. Audio Shows - MySpace Video

Whats this? Oh its me installing it. Not the same setup currently as these are when we used a hicrapics amp and 2 Fi 12's. Current setup is 2 Atomic 10's in home-made reinforced tubes.

well, how this goes, i'm 21 i went through n work with a mecp guy for 3 years, my parents open'd up a automotive shop 10 years ago, we started 5 years ago, i was 16 when it was started for the stereo shop, and it was passed down to me. which its a family buisness.

now i do agree, and we both agree with each other its possible but too damn much work.

also i <3 your amp, lol they are a beast and one hell of an amp.

also those atomic subs, i've heard great things about them....fill me in about them.
