I currently underway into swapping out my blown d15 motor to a D16Y8 motor in my EG Civic

The ecu i have is a ODB1 P06 11F0 and all the wiring will be ODB1
I also have a ODB2 P2P ECU which came with the motor
I know that i need the following components to do the conversion:

* C60 - 1uF, 35v electrolytic (tantalum?) capacitor
* J10 - 0 Ohm jumper wire
* Q101 - A143 PNP switching transistor
* R201 - 10K resistor (Brown-Black-Orange-Gold)
* IC14 - 515 XHigh Side Switch
* D11 - Clamping Diode

I found in the P2P ECU the SI/SK 5151S switch which i think i can use in the P06 IC14

My question is this once i install all the above components into the P06 ECU will it plug and play with the D16Y8 motor like engage Vtec and all that or do i have to install a Zif socket and burn off a basemap for that motor for it to run optimal

Sorry for a such a newbie question

Any help will be greatly appreciated

You need to chip it an jump the J1 connector. The stock program will run the engine, but won't have a clue what to do with the VTEC hardware. So, yes, install a ZIF socket and a chip with a VTEC program. If this is going into an OBD2 car, you will also need a conversion harness, as OBD1 ECUs don't plug into OBD2 harnesses.

x2 of what he said, plus...

i'd just go to xenocron.com and buy a vtec conversion kit, that way you know you have what you need. And yes you'll have to socket and chip the ecu. You could just use a p28/p08 map in place of the y8 map...basically all the same.
