L3 stuck with clutch disengaged

So after having my car sitting all weekend, I go to drive it today and the clutch is stuck disengaged(89 CRX Si trans mated to Z6 engine).I've put about 5000 miles on the swap so far without issue . Now the clutch release shaft/lever is stuck "up", keeping the transmission disengaged from the motor. Yes the cable works fine.

Any idea what could cause this? Its a brand new(well, 5000mi old now) exedy OEM replacement kit, but I'm thinking maybe I got a bad throwout bearing? I'll be dropping the trans this weekend.

Damn, I didn't even think of that, but it's certainly a possibility. But if the fork broke how is it keeping the clutch disengaged? I would think the opposite would happen.

I imagine I have to crack open the transmission case to change that? I don't have my shop manual handy.

Well, I dropped the transmission tonight.
Fork was fine. Throwout was fine. Still plenty of lube.

The ^*@#ing release shaft was SEIZED! It corroded right in place. After two hours with a mallet,PB blaster, torch, and slide hammer it finally came out.

I've got a spare from my old transmission that I'll be replacing it with after cleaning up the insides.

Has anyone ever seen this before? Or at least have an idea of what might of been the culprit? I can't fathom how it happened so quickly.

It was never un-installed. I bought this transmission from a H-T guy and rebuilt it with a quaife and HF 5th, but never touched the release shaft. It supposedly had about 200k on it, so it very well could have run dry.

I just find it so odd that it went from fully operational to fully stuck in two days, the car has sat for much longer than that before.

I'm sure ice racing / New England winters in general didn't do it any favors. I'll make sure to have it properly lubed up so it'll be good for another 200k.

With any luck I'll have it all buttoned up tomorrow, can redo my exhaust(cat cracked from an ice-racing snow bank excursion) and get out there and race again on Sunday!
