H2d swap

So I plan on doing either a h2d or h2b swap and cant decide which right now. Obviously a b series trans is gonna hold up a little bit better and have better gearing but I kind of want to save the money and just keep the y8 trans with stage 4 competition clutch I have now. I just wanna make sure im not putting myself in a situation where Im having a bunch of down time from having trans issues. Hopefully I can sell the stuff in my for sale thread so I can buy the adapter kit and commit to the build.

I'd also like to use the rbc intake mani and adapter plate from quartersport to gain a little clearance, eliminate the secondaries and hopefully gain a few hp over the stock i/m .

Hmm... Well I've heard of d-series transmissions holding up to a lot of power and torque. So I don't know if an h-series can punish a d-series transmission anymore than a high power d-series can.

But on another note, a b-series transmission does have a lot better gearing...

I think the h2d needs to happen, but a lsd would probably be a must. From what I've been reading up on the differential is supposed to be the weak link in the d trans. Another concern of mine is the axles not being equal length. Some people are saying that causes a little more torque steer than the equal lenght axles. I'm trying to figure out weather ill have to grind more off the block to make room for the diff axle position also.

I plan on going all motor, so at best ill be puttin down 220 whp hopefully (someday). I shouldnt have to worry about the axles too much at that hp/tq level should I? Theres turbo d series running that all day on those axles. If I go b series Ill end up spending as much money on the trans as I initally get the h22 for probably.

h2b no plate or straight H. thats my point of view. lol. ghetto! i know..

but dude, h2d would be very nice, you figure once you gear a d tranny it will do what you want. i dont think it will break. stay on the small side of slicks and i bet you will never have a problem actually.
with all the direct torque it shouldnt break axles.
SHOULDNT lol.

i was looking into the RBC and they were saying the Typs S manifold is about the same except for the down revving vs the straighter runner K manifolds. go custom and be a bad ass! Yolo hahahaha

Should be pointed out that the H2D is about half the price as H2B, this is brand new prices and you can get used H2B for cheaper. You can build a very nice geared D transmission with the money you save that would compare to a B transmission. I've seen quite a few H or F2D cars running over 200whp without any issues when installed correctly. You just have to figure what is a better option for you.

Glad to see some people are showing some interest on the topic, zchonda has a good point with the kit being cheaper and spending the money saved on the kit and trans on custom gearing, lsd etc.

Sleepersedan, only thing I see as being an issue with the rsx-s i/m is the throttle cable. I see that being a prob, other then that I think it would give reaally good clearance to the fire wall. :)

Just think of a low 13 second qarter mile on all motor... Then think of the work and time into the project... I would say its worth it. Especially since it will cost roughly 2500 for the plate, engine and a tune. Only thing im dreading is grinding on that block like in the photos.

Shane, do iiittt lol, that way im not alone in this shit. Theres alot of people who have done the h2b but im not finding too much info on the h2d swap. I doubt theres much difference though, just heard theres a difference in how much you have to shave off the block.

Im enjoying this, My Tranny is wicked built Mfactory Metal plate diff and 3straight cut gear with 0.878 5 gear. I just realized we have a H22 at my new job which is My friends fab shop so making everything perfect and strong is not an issue. HMMM winter mods maybe. THe kit is a fair price I think from SHITy moto. I hope this product from him is better than all the other stuff he makes.

One thing everyone needs to keep in mind while building anything...you gotta pay to play. Its all this about cost, well like bone said look at that shit. He needed a vaccume pump....who the fuck wants to deal with that? Buy a damn H2B bolt it up and have a blast. So what if its 500.00 more, taking a chunk out of the block like that id throw a H2D away.

What are you talking about vacuum pump? If you are talking about the Bisi F22A, that was a full blown drag car running on methanol. From what I heard, taking the material off the side of the block takes maybe an hour and there is still plenty of material left on the block, look at a F or H block in that area you will see just how thick it is. H2B is easier and a bolt-on affair, but plenty of people run H2D (mostly F2D) and never have a issue.

i would and from some research if i ever do a build like this i would go f2d with a f22a1 for the flow of the head ans from what i have seen little to no grinding has to be done when it is put in a 4th gen like i have :) then maybe drop in a cam , i likey my single cam ftw!

IIRC, the Bisi F/H2D kit can come with hasport mounts (has the correct driver's side mount). It's good to upgrade anyway as the engine will be moving around a lot, with that mad vtak crackin! To be honest, you would be better off looking around for a used H2B locally or look on honda-tech. I always see the H2D in ED/EF chassis, but never in EG/EK chassis (I think there is a reason why).
