Im lookin to add a couple PSI to my D17 Pump, Ever since the turbo my Oil Light Flickers at idle... I want to make sure my turbos getting enough oil to lube it up. Is this pretty much the same for the D17 Pumps?!?!?
Just port it DJ and take it from there. The D17 runs really high oil pressure on a cold start and upping that pressure might put your seals in jeopardy.

i was practicing on an old pump i have.I have a brand new one awaiting to be done but want to get it right first. How does it look? And where should i put the devcon exactly?

well after searching for devcon i found that most of it is basicly like two part epoxies except for one which is like 119.00 or something. It seems like the only one that is made for this kind of thing.
So maybe a two part epoxy from auto zone will do as long as it is able to handle the heat and wont break down from oil.Or maybe i will just port it without the epoxy. What do you think?
Here's a link to the page i found with the devcon epoxy's

Foos... Long time no talk.... Im not in a hurry, imma have a spare engine on ground for my complete Rebuild, So I'll just take my time and Port the pump.. I'll make sure to get Before and After Pressures both hot and cold. Then we'll see what happens from there!

In the pic above, you did a VERY nice job with the opening up of the outlet! Now, as for where you put the Devcon, you would fill the hole in back of the sealing bolt, then smooth out the transition to make it as smooth as possible. However, Devcon will like a much rougher surface to reliably bond to, AND you would NEVER want to Devcon a used pump that will actually see use in an engine. The reason is that Devcon won't reliably bond on cast aluminum that has seen service in an oil pump or other oil-soaked area, as cast aluminum is porous, and it will prevent proper adhesion.

Devcon is expensive, and it is expensive for a reason. You would not be able to rely on regular two part epoxy in this application. Devcon has the credentials to hold up in use in the oil pump without letting go and ruining your engine, as long as it is used correctly.

That should illustrate how the outlet should look.

P.S. Don't shim the pump.

thanks beave.I have a new pump that i got of ebay. Not shure if i want to use it though.I have to port match the intake port for it to work though.

by the way i don't plan on shimming it.Just want a little better flow.

My haynes manual says to pack the rotors with petrolium jelly when reassembling to prime the pump.Do you guys do this?Is this nessecary or should i soak it with oil. This pump is going into a fresh rebuild. So i dont want to ruin my engine.

I ususally just fill it up with engine oil. make sure its well lubricated.

No, because our pumps don't need to be primed. What you DO need to do is not start the engine right away. Disconnected the ECU fuse. Crank the engine over until the oil light blinks off. (Don't fry your starter, though. It might take a while.) Once the Dummy Light goes out, you've got oil. Install the ECU fuse, and start the car. Done.

strange how my manual says to then.I was going to start it the way you explained regardless. This much i was certian of.I just thought it was strange to pack it with vasseline.LOL.Sounds kinda gay.I did this to the first pump i had ported (the one in the pic).I have ported another since then and i wasn't shure if i wanted to pack that thing full of that "scented"proteloiem jelly.I'll just soak it in oil then.
