I just swapped this z6 and it runs great. But I noticed the other day the cooling fan has never kicked on. I have been watching it now the last couple days not not once turned on. The gauge never goes past half way. Its 90 degree's in utah and this is after a 40 minute drive home from work. Does this seem strange?

check the fuse and make sure the fan is plugged in...all so see if the sensor on the thermostat housing is plugged in....

No, the temperature gauge on the dash is a single wire sensor on the side of the head.

The one on the thermostat is a "fan switch" that will auto turn on the fan once water temp reaches ~190F IIRC. The ecu can also use the 2 wire sensor next to the one on the head for your dash gauge to determine other times to turn on the fan in cases like if the fan switch in question were to fail.

Jump the thermostat plug wires and if the fan does not come on listen for a click inside the fues box on the passenger side. If no click, your fan relay may be at fault.

My cooling system was hosed and I would over heat only a couple times a week, I got it fixed when the temps started to raise this summer. You may just not be over heating, have you left it at idle after a long drive?

Mine seemded to overheat in traffic when stopped with other car in front stopping all flow over my radiator, at first. Then it got worse and worse from there.
