yea that is exactly what i am getting "erratic idle" and i am throwing a code somewhere so could that possibly be why?

the idle thing is so annoying, i took apart and cleaned the entire intake mannifold looking for a leak or something

actually, make sure you cap the vac line to the canister, and plug it and see if its still erratic...

My purge solenoid is locked open with my P08.... so there is always vaccum reaching the canister. I unplugged it, and blocked the port and hose end and saw no erratic idle.

i have a screw in it now but ill try something a little more durable

what if my ecu was an automatic ecu would this be the problem b/c i am not sure if the guy i bought it from chipped it correctly or not

well, if its programmed correctly and chipped and modded right the ECU should think its a MT ECU.... that all depends on the guys work =/

When one swaps a D15B Vtec engine in a car, what should he do before he puts it in.

1. Install new timing belt (is this all that is needed?)
2. What?...

Thanks because when I got mine in, I think I cheated and didnt do anything. My timing belt seems pretty good though the last time I checked. wasnt cracking and seemed pretty hard.

But I think I will just put a new one in the summer. Tell me what should I change...

THANKS

What's going on everyone. I've just been kinda sitting back and doing some reading and researching. I'm loving the thread, gave me alot of info. that will be needed. I was gonna, and still may do a build up in the future of a b series, but for the upcoming track season, I wanted to step up some kind of way with another motor. I'm most likely gonna get me a d15b.
Had acouple of questions if someone could help me out.
Earlier in the post it said most block components are sourced from the vx block, does that apply for head gaskets as well, cause it wasn't mentioned and i'd def. want to put a new one on there. Also, was wondering about aftermarket fastners for head, mains, rods, which engine to source them from.
(sorry for the paragraph long inquiry)
Also, I saw in the "price of a b vs. price of a d" thread, that the mini can make power all the way through 8 grand. Is that possible on most all D series engines, with modification. And if so, what modification would you all recommend to get there. Cause, reving up to 8 grand definately sounds appealing to me.
Also, i'm wondering, if I do get the d15b(jdm130hpsochvtec)will any d series turbo manifold bolt right up?
Alright, i'll end it there, and let me thank yal now for any help and advice you can give. Love the thread. Love the site. Thanks yal

Pull the codes from your check engine line and see what it says. Most likely you didn't hook up the wires correct to run VTEC.

when i went to honda they said that the water pump codes were all the same for each water pump. r u positive tha a vx timing water pump is what needs to be used? obviously the d15b water pump is different from the z6(the one i have) i have not tried it nor have i opened it. if it is the vx water pump im gonna go down there and my exchange my z6 one. confirm someone.

Same as Z6. for new install, do a waterpump... it's cheap insurance... also make sure the tensioner is smooth rolling. other than that, use a Z6 or Y8 HG.

i pulled the codes and the ecu was messed up

now i get a vtec lock up code once i hit vtec, but once i turn the car off and on it goes away. i am getting this code but it still feals and souunds like i have vtec. iam going to look around to see if there is a forum on this but if anyone else knows why this is happening or any clue, that would be really helpful

i'm having problems with my crx i put a d15b vtec in my car but befor that i had to do a dpfi to mpfi conversion on the car first..... i'm trying to convert the motor to obd0 but the dist. i'm using won't bolt up correctly only two bolts line up...... also my car with flash a 10(air intake temp) and a 20(electric load) can any one help.....

els is in the fuse box under the hood.... get one that matches your ecu type: obd2 etc.

IAT sensor is in the manifold for obd1, and on the intake tube on others... check to make sure you have the right one for your application

as for the vtec questions, Check the wiring again it could be a loose wire, now u say its working kinda.... which leads me to think the screen is clogged, or the solenoid might need to be replaced.

Is the purge solinoid really neccessary. If the engine didn't have one before then why will it make a difference now? I only ask cause I just swapped my motor and I am getting a erratic idle but I think that is from the timing belt. I am going to go pick one of those up tonight. I would really appreciate help on this purge solinoid thing. Thanks.
