So I wasn't exactly sure how to search this. Can you put a Manual Tranny on an Engine that was running an Automatic Tranny?

For instance, I have an 87 CRX Si (Manual) Car. If I bought an Automatic D16A1 and then purchased a Manual D16A1 Tranny, could I bolt that together and drop it in?
If it's possible what do I need to do?

Thanks!

Yes, you just need the following

Flywheel
transmission and matched clutch kit
clutch pedal assembly with either cable or hydraulic lines and slave cylinder/reservoir
Ecu jumped/modified
Hole cut for shift link and mount holes/brackets
shift link and shifter assembly
harness may need to be modified to delete unneeded components after swap/ shift solenoid, etc. Also to "trick" the ecu.
If you want to go a bit spendy or have them lying around, simply swap over a manual harness with ecu
cluster (optional)

HAHA Thanks GUYS! I just thought about it when I was looking into engine swaps. Soo If I got this right. I need to get all of the things for a manual transmission (flywheel and such) hook it up to the engine, find a manual engine harness and ecu, and then just hook the clutch cable to the trans? Of course that is a very vague way of saying what you guys said but is that basically the concept?

Thanks again, Rep To You ALL!

There's a how to thread somewhere on here with a detailed list of everything you need. Just search "manual conversion". It's what I used to convert my Civic to standard. Good luck.
