D16Z6 Rev limiter?

I have a 95 EG Si which I believed to be stock when I purchased it until today I was trying to figure out where my rev limiter was so I gunned it in first and I brought it all the way up to 8,200rpm without bouncing a limiter..

Another thing I noticed is that the VTEC crosses over around 4,000rpm.

I pull the car over and take a quick look at the ECU and there is some sticker on it, I didn't take it out because I was lazy but I will take a picture and post it.

The other thing is that there is this plug around the ECU/Glovebox area that is green and not connected to anything. It's pretty small too. I can't see where it plugs into. What is that plug?

The d16z6 is limited to 7,200rpm in stock trim correct?

I'm kinda irritated because I want a STOCK EG. It's my daily...

VTEC at WOT and warmed up = 4800 rpm

Fuel rev limter is 7200 rpm

Electronic (ECU shut down) rev limiter is 7400 rpm

Sounds like your ECU has been chipped with a B series program, the green connector os jumpered to read CEL's if ever needed.

Oh yeah, stock tack sucks......7700-7800 on the dial is really about 7200 rpm.

What advantages does the B series program have over the D series?

Is there any harness I can buy to plug this ECU into my laptop to view the data on the ECU?

I know the D-series stops making power around 7000rpm.

Can the D-series valvetrain even handle revs past 7,400rpm?

yeah, a stock tach is normally off, just use it as a guideline, but 8200 is high, definitely sounds like your running a chipped ecu.

although my carbed 85 accord had no rev limiter. the tach stopped at 8k and i had it bouncing off that once. had a built bottem end tho.

my EX tach reads about 5700 at 5200 according to my standalone ecu
