D16Y8 Head on a D16Z6 Block

Alright boys and girls im back

After my previous post I am back with what appears to be a flawed valve that blew a hole on exhaust side - so I pulled the head and am about to do a full valve job. I am unsure as to if in my stupidity I caused this or not. I had retimed by setting the cam gear to align with the timing marks along with the crank at TDC, and then set ignition timing to the correct marks on the crank. It drove spectacularly for two days before a cyl 4 misfire at 0 psi. Head off, and valve is gone. (img) My question is in regards to the timing of the engine:

I purchased the car with the swap and I am starting to regret it. It is what appears to be a full Y8 head with the distributor mod and a full z6 block. From what I have searched rigorously I have found that:

Z6/Y8 timing belts are the same tooth count
Z6/Y8 cams are very similar
Z6/Y8 cam gears are same tooth count but indexed differently. The degree and offset difference I do not know. I believe it is about half a tooth

So my question is while I have the motor apart should I change cam gears? If so would doing a Z6 cam and gear make everything align or would it be easier to do an adjustable cam gear? This is a bone stock car and simply my daily driver so no need for anything withstanding HP lol. I have found such varying results on "yes use a Y8 gear", "no only use the Z6 gear and cam in the Y8 head" etc etc etc.

Mostly looking to people who have done the swap/have knowledge about combining this head with this block. Any help is great!
