Posted a few times about getting an engine for my 96 ex still very confused.

I am going with a d15b

what ecu will i need to get.

do i need n e thing else besides an ecu.

I put a d15b in a 1995 civic dx and i had to get a new ecu and a jumper from the vtec solenoid to the ecu.

just trying to see all that i need before i get the ball rolling here

thanks again

If you get a P28 ecu you may need to chip it with P08 maps to get it to run 100%, P28 will let you run a 4 wire O2, P08 uses 1 wire O2 but is the proper ECU for this engine. You will need the TD42U dizy from a 92-95 VTEC, I'm doing the same swap as you as I type and just found that is the dizy you need.

Did u get the d15b with the two vtec sylenoids?? Cuz if so ull have to run two vtec wires into a p08 for both sylenoids to pop!\
and if u chip it ull b in heaven!!! 2 vtecss!!! Doesnt get any better

WTF are you babbling about? There are two different D15b motors. There is the OBD1 version which used a P08 and there's the Vtec-e version you are talking about which is OBD2 and would use a P2? ECU. You do not want the OBD2 version for normal performance use. Since Vtec-e works completely different, you also would not want to run it off a P08 or a straight P28. The correct answer is OBD1 D15b, Obd2a-OBD1 conversion, P08 or Chipped P28, and dizzy jumper as previously noted.

Jdm obd2 d15b 3 stage vtec has two vtec solenoids and u do have to run a separate wire into ur ecu. It is the combination of the sohc vtec and sohc vtec-e...meaning u can be fuel efficcient at low rpm's or u can beast mode at high rpm's. It is a real nice engine. Since ur car is already an obd2, i recommend u to look for this engine. U will have to do some secondary vtec wiring and also might have to swap oil pumps b'c of the crank sensor.
