Loving this already, keeping up with progress on this one.

EDIT: What are the plans on using the shifter linkage, or you going for a d17 trans with cable shifter.

Little bit of work done tonight. Had some help from my step daughter! She jacked it up for me Hahaha.

Rear suspension is out.

Del Sol jealous. Haven't touched her in months. Need to make some time to show her some attention.

Mad stance.

Looking solid!

I'm really excited about your build. SUCH a rad little car. Haha. Keep up the good work!!!
Thanks mrtodd! Love this little guy.

I burned myself yesterday from a metal shaving when I was grinding. Apparently I got branded. Haha

also another picture of the car as is for reference when im done.

Too flare or not to flare....hmmm. I'd love to have a wider wheelbase for better handling, but will it take away from the classic look?

Please complete this! I know it'll be a lot of sweat and hard work but it'll make alottttt of us happy to see this thing completed
thanks man. It will get completed. Unfortunately, i don't fabricate, so the bulk of the work will not be performed by me :icon_frown: but i will do as much as i can!

:whistling:

Just remember having lower offset will space the wheels out farther, but this also puts more stress on the wheel and hubs and it won't handle all that great. Look at all Honda's and you will see fairly high positive offset (the S2K is over +50 IIRC). This brings everything close to the suspension and in turn provides better handling.

When you get lower offset wheels you just space them out more, and you are increasing wheel base but also put more stress on everything. If you keep the offset fairly high but use slightly wider wheels/tires you will have good results.

Also it seems like every N600 has the wheels sticking out past the fender, so even on stock offsets having some small flares or rolling the fenders helps the overall look.

thanks for the advice. my Enkei's are +38 offset so we should be good. i dont really want to flare, although i really dont want to go narrower to fit in the fender. so im at a cross roads.

i got some time to think about it, at least.

Love to see stuff like this....wish I had the time.
thanks. me too! if i was doing it all myself it would take years.

Got some work done today on the donor car. Entire cabin harness is out. Clutch cable, throttle cable, brake master cylinder, VSS cable, gauges cluster, radiator, fuel lines, fuse boxes is all out! Hoping to have some updates on the n600 this week sometime.

Also found this sneak a toke while I was disassembling the car. Even though i dont smoke, its a pretty smart idea! Basically a pen cap with a eraser housing shoved in there.

^^Nice find lol.

We use a "dugout" when we want to be descreet. By we I mean people who smoke... This is for tabacco use only though... right...

Figure anything out that you want to do for transmission shifter linkage/cables? Either you will need some cables and a D17 or somehow make a wierd linkage setup for a Z6 trans, but it would need a lot of pivot points to try and keep the stock H pattern or it may be backwards/upside down if not done right.

Sorry to ask so much about the tranny part, I am just intersted to see how it turns out!

D17 trans ratios (transzex)
........DX/LX.........HX...........EX
1......3.461.........3.461......3.142
2......1.869.........1.750......1.869
3......1.241.........1.116......1.241
4......0.969.........0.857......0.969
5......0.710.........0.710......0.756
FD....4.111.........3.842......4.411

i am going to stick with D16 for right now. Found a super easy method of hooking up the shifter linkage. thanks for the info man. *must spread rep*

Got pretty much everything that i need and can use on the N600 out:

full size radiator
cabin wiring harness
GT steering wheel + hub
gauge cluster
fuel pump
throttle cable
clutch cable
VSS cable
brake master cylinder
full front and rear suspension
subframe
fuse boxes

i think thats it. all in all i am glad that i got the shell. i picked it up for $350. Sold some parts off it for $180. That leaves me with a $170 investment. and i still have some parts for sale. not too shabby for all the parts i would have had to pay the salvage yard.

not to mention the salvage yard is coming sunday with $25 and a free tow out of here. woot.

talked to my fabricator, he should get started this week but has a race this weekend so will be busy. Should be full time on this next week. Just a waiting game at this point. Time to show the del sol some love this week...

:bigok:

Customer of mine just bought a 72 Z600 with 80k miles, has sat covered in a garage for 20 years, one family owned. He got it for a STEAL since he was the only person that was interested in not modifing it or flipping it. The seller wanted to preserve it, but not the time of money.

Nice! Wonder how much he got it for? If I had the room I'd love to own an all original n600.
