you work for a dealer and your asking US this question? kinda odd considering you have the resources available.......google search

 

i googled it and found mixed resluts...some people say none of the parts are inter- changeable from d17 to d16....the guy that worked in parts @ the dealership had no clue, (hes a 9-5 drone) so i did look it up and the honda parts guide only lists it as a 104tooth belt with a individual part #, so i asked a honda master tech in the garage and he said tooth count doesnt always matter because of keyway degree difference in the sohc engine (for instance a y7/y8 uses the same amount of teeth on the gear but has different keyway degree by about 4 degrees so its technically incompatible). so i asked here...i never post without exhausting my options. but thanks

Without the visual comparison between a Y7 and a D17 Timing belt I would assume they're incompatible. They're different part numbers and (for all intents and purposes) completely different motors.

You could always borrow a Y7 belt and do a check yourself.

 

according to Gates website it won't work......

 

read that to.....unfortunate....looks to be a nice belt though

 

thanks guys, i appreciate the help and opinions. im going high rev n/a spinning it to 10k or so and want a stronger belt so i just purchased the gates belt for the y7 about 10 minutes ago. 55 bones is a small price to pay for peace of mind.
