Guys ,
I Have recently bought a D16ZC swapped 95 Civic . It has a forged Bottom end . The car is currently running on a base map which is really rich . Like 11.5-11.7 AFR on idle . I`ll have it tuned in a week or so , i am just driving it normally under 2k RPM so that the boost would not come int .

Now there are two things which i am noticing

1-) The car has Ngk v-power 8 heat range plugs .

Now if i start the car after 1 to 2 days . It starts missing . Then i`ll have to take the plugs out and have them cleaned . It runs fine after that . The plugs have black carbon on them , with a sign of oil as well

Now if i use the normal OEM plugs , the car starts fine and there is no sign of oil etc on plugs as well after cold starts etc .

My mechanic is saying that you just need to get the car tuned with the 8 heat range plugs . I have been reading around and oil on plugs means worn out rings as well ?? can someone clarify this and give me a clear direction

2-) I am seeing some fumes coming out of the oil breather location , my mechanic is saying that this is normal for Forged Turbo cars . Please keep in mind that there is no oil coming out of the breather + the car is not loosing / dipping any oil or something .

He is also saying that your P2w clearence is a bit loose , but its not a major problem , you will just need a catch can .

I just bought the car and my scheduled tune is after a week or so . These two things are making me confused etc . I know that compression testing would tell me quite a log . But where i reside there are no mechanics having a compression tester or something . Also there are also not available in the markets as well

Can some gurus help me out here ? This is my 1st Turbo Honda . before that i had a starlet GT 4EFTE .

The plug is too cold for rich, prolonged idling, it is call fouling and more happen on colder plug with rich idling/part throttle.

2-)

yes..loose clearence cause more blowby so your mech is correct.

We use forged pistons.
From a cold start it would oil the plugs. And you would see oil in the exhaust. This is normal. And you should probally get a catch can.

How long since the engine was re-built. If it was recent then it will take some time for the rings to seal and the oil issue will vanish as soon as the rings seat. If it was done some time ago. You may need to go in for a re-hone and fresh rings.

A leak down tester and comp gauge are two tools you must have. If nobody in your city has one like it was for me. Just buy your self one. They dont cost all that much.
