99-00 D16Y8 Intake Manifold install with Air Assist Ports

This was a very helpful thread.
I did this install about 2 weeks ago and figured I should share my experience.

Parts Recommendation:

1. OEM Throttle body gasket part no. 16176-P2A-004
2. OEM Intake Manifold gasket for 99-00 part no. 17105-P2P-A01 (This gasket is a perfect fit with the 99-00 manifold, as it is meant for it; it will work fine on the D16Y7 head).
3. Extended Hose for PCV valve to intake manifold.
4. Extended coolant line (this hose sits center on the pipe that is right underneath the intake manifold).
5. OEM or aftermarket D16Y8 Intake.

Problems encountered:

1. Installing the AIT sensor on intake tube. Just needed to modify the grommet.
2. To lengthen the wires, I simply spliced away the black protective insulation. It was enough to get all the wires to their sensors.

Notes

1. Reused throttle body from my D16Y7 manifold, since it had all the working sensors on it already. Had to install the rotor from the D16Y8 throttle body. had to screw on the Map sensor and sensor gasket to the top of the throttle body.

Pictures

Here are pics of:
The injector wire colors, in case you get confused.
Map sensor wire colors, in case you get it confused with the TPS wires.
What I used (Item called Quick Steel from Advanced Auto Parts) to clog all 6 ports (4 small ports + 1 big port located where the manifold gasket mates. 1 large port on top of the intake manifold that sticks out.
Final installation pics to see how everything fits.

2 week Review

I personally did not notice or feel any performance gains...
It looks a lot nicer.
Fuel economy is the same, if not a little bit better my 0.2 MPG? I usually get 37MPG from overall daily driving. Now I am getting ~37.2MPG.
Was it worth doing this intake upgrade? Sure why not. It can only benefit the small D16Y7.
From briefly studying intake manifold design, the D16Y8 intake manifold is designed for best performance at higher Revs, especially when VTEC is engaged. Since D16Y7 is non-VTEC, not much of a gain is noticed.
