d16y vtec swap help?!?!?!

:confused: :confused: hey wats up people im new to this d-series....i got a d16y on my 98 civic hb........i want to swap the head to a vtec one i wanted to know wat do i need for ever thing to work out good..........:confused: :confused:

Search....do some heavy research.

I'll give ya a tid bit of help....hint hint.... that might make you smile.
If you are correct in saying you have a d16y as in d16y8.....mmmmmm......that is vtec. I assume you need nothing!

there is an engine call the d16y7 non vtec. btw i never knew that hatchbacks come with vtec.

CX, DX, VX and SI from what I know. Im not sure if the later years have all those same models but I know the 92-95 do. Im not sure whether or not your car has the Y7 or Y8. But research, reasearch and when you think you're done, research some more. And then, you will be ready.

HX is not a hatchback that was the d16y5 vtec-e coupe that year hatch was cx dx thats it..non-vtec motors in both

Everybody's right here it sounds and all points seem valid.

The missing piece of info is what type of d16y the poster is talking about matching a vtec head to.

y8=vtec
y7=non vtec
all the rest.....help me out people.

As far as actually swaping heads & what is needed I don't know.
Maybe some nice people here will help but keep searcing for your own good man. Research helps ALOT!!!
