ZC Engine Questions

Hello this is my first post. I recently bought a 1998 Integra with the SOHC non Vtec ZC Engine and instead of swapping in a B18 I was trying to find out if I could swap the head from a D16Z6 On to the ZC block. Or if there is a better Head Swap option I would be grateful for that information Aswell.

It is efi I completely forgot to put that in the post I definitely couldn't do it then
I believe any D15 or D16 SOHC head would fit it

If it is a SOHC ZC then a D16Y8 Cylinder head would be the proper VTEC head to swap, the ZC bottom is similar to the D16Y engines and the D16Z engines I believe have a different deck height and the Z6 head and cam on the ZC/Y block should fit right on with the Y8 timing belt and cam gear. The Z6 head would most likely need an adjustable cam gear to get the correct timing if I recall correctly.

Here I thought all "ZC's" were DOHC.
I mean, wasn't that the 'allure' to them?

Nope, the crank I have for the engine I'm building right now came out of a SOHC ZC,

D16zc engines all share the same deck height, weather vtec, non vtec, dohc or sohc, d15zc engines, however, can be either 202mm deck height or 212mm deck height, depending on obd0/1 or 2, often times the best way to find deck height in the case of the d15zc is measuring the rod center to center length, since a head could have been swapped at some point in time and sometimes the blocks weren't labeled clearly, or can't be read accurately.

Lets not get into the deck height battles, because without my input no one here would have known they were different.

Thank you for clearing this up!
D15 are 207mm deck height. If you see a 207.45mm posted by someone other than me, I posted that measurement stating it was off because I couldn't get a proper reading.

I do have a D15B2 block that us junk in the trunk of my dead Mazda so I could measure off that if my back wasn;t screwed up from truck wreck two weeks ago.

whats the status of that if you dont mind me asking

Great Im Definitely Going to look more into this. thank you

If I Do end up going with the y8 head and doing the vtec conversion would I be able to use my current ECU or would I have to pull one from a Civic/delsol
If you have VTEC wires and the ECU is setup for it then you're probably fine, otherwise you're gonna need all of that

You would need a P2P ECU if you are doing the Y8 head, do not forget to use Y8 injectors as well. Also make sure that you get a 96-98 P2P ECU for a manual transmission.

It tells you three things: JDM, D-series, 1.6 liter. They come in DOHC, SOHC non-VTEC with carbs or EFI, and VTEC EFI varieties. I'm not sure if there were DOHC carb ZCs.
