I'm planning on buying an STR cam gear off of someone who claims that the gear is for either a Y8 or Z6. He says him and a friend used it on both engines and it worked fine. i thought they were a tooth off or something. Can anyone comfirm if it will work or not? Thanks, Vince.

Yes, they are different. If you look at some companies, they actually offer different gears for 92-95 and 96-00. You *can* interchange them, but you may have to fiddle with the timing.

Every company i look into has only one for all SOHC's. If they are different how will that affect my adjustments?

Golden Eagle has different gears and so do a few other companies. If you do a search you should be able to find how you have to adjust. Many people have to do this when using a zex 59300 cam in a y8 head.
