I need to adjust the timing on my Z6 and have never done it before. I know about timing basics and the basic how to, my question is will the ECU automatically try to adjust the timing? Is there anything I'll need to short out / jump to bypass the ECU if it does try to auto adjust?

should be the same connector that you jump to get codes iirc

It should be set at 16 for the z6.

I'd use a timing gun. Take it to a local mechanic. They should be able to do it fairly easy.

Or you could rent a timing gun at kragen etc.. for cheap

Make sure it is fully warmed up short the scs and ya set to 16. You also need to have no idle problems. If your idle is to high it will upset setting base timing properly. Get a book at www.hondatech.info run a search for your car you can get cheap timing lights thy work ok.

I drove over to a friends last night and borrowed his timing light, did it over there with the engine still warm. Thanks for the info guys
