Like i said these are not horrible looking manifolds but they're not the prettiest either but hey they'll get ya boosted. I'll get some pics of the ports later to show what i was talking about with dremel work. If anyone is thinking about buying one of these mani's, feel free to ask for specific pics of certain areas and i will be glad to help ya out. I figure i've got one in my posession and alot of the times people have been putting these in the same category as ssautoshit. In fact ssac is now selling their mani's under the OBX name i've noticed. But i would definately say that the OBX mani is alot better than the ssac manis.

LoL @ XO2RACING,COM
the angle of the turbo on that mani is shit. have fun starving the bushings of oil...
i got the blur from ss and am happy with the mani it has extra thick steel the welds are so so but it is a strong piece with bracing and the right flexpipe on the downpipe I see no problems full boost at about 3800rpm no spike want the nuekin mani thoughhttp://www.neukin.com/

If I can find a good deal on the blur then Im getting it and having it braced...but if I can't, my plan has been to order that 1st ram horn that was originally shown (not the OBX but the other one) and have it retig welded on the places where these manifolds are most common for cracking and also have it braced in several places too. I think it will work just fine as long as it is in fact braced and rewelded in a couple spots...if not, shit it didn't cost much for a ram horn that looked damn good for at least a little while lol
i dont really think its the bracing that is a problem on these manifolds. its the thin metal that they use on the runners. i personally couldnt trust it. but i could see myself bringing it to my work and having someone clone it with some thicker piping. i work at a fire sprinkler company so we have all the piping i could ever need.
yea Im sure a major factor in them breaking is that they're very thin...but if it's braced properly and there's not much downforce on the manifold then it shouldn't break. Ya never know. You may be right lol. But I've seen them work a lot of times so Im gona give it a shot. Doesn't cost that much.
I just researched 321 grade steel and from what I can tell, it's a nice strong metal that has good welding characteristics and also has good heat resistance up to around 900 degrees...so if this manifold is truely made of 321 stainless steel then it shouldn't be to bad if rewelded and braced. A lot of other SSAC mani's are made out of 304 which also has good welding characteristics but from what I find, it's not quite as durable as 321 grade and is not as strong as 321 after 500 degrees. It's heat resistance is lower than 321 for sure. Im guessing with rewelding and bracing, it's going to just fine..

too bad exhaust temps reach in the 1400-1500 range on boosted motors...

and that also doesnt make up for how thin the metal is
go ahead and get it. then post up and tell us how it does. i cannot see myself spending that much on one when you can get a miniram from coreyr for close to that price.

thats what i was thinking
yea but tons of people have boosted their cars using rewelded and braced the original manifolds which are were made out of the 304 steel...and the 321 is stronger and has a better heat resistance...so I don't see why it wouldn't work with the 321 stainless one as long as it's welded good and braced...I'll give it a try. If it doesn't work and it cracks, I'll have it rewelded and then I'll sell it. I could buy this and have it rewelded 6 times before it equals the price a good custom ramhorn...ya know what Im sayin?
hehe the first one i posted did look a lil cheap lol~ go with the OBX one at least man.....if you do decide to try it though, send us some pics....and give a review on it....more reviews in a nice organized section will keep the questions down some on matters such as this..
its going to break, doesnt matter what he tell you about the metal its made of.

shit, sced40 steel breaks and cracks due to the heat and weight of a snail. do you think that paper thin stuff wont?

x2

i understand what your are saying about cost, but the reality is you are going to have more hassle than its really worth.

what are your power goals? a log can support 300+ easy, just look at Bizzar's setup. even a mini-ram can support a lot more than that. then there are always the Drag style manifolds that have been proven time and time again to consistently make power. all 3 of those options are cheap, and would run you most likely less that this ssauto knockoff.

guys that i know personally that have ran the ssauto manis, complain that they have to be re-welded WEEKLY!!
well what's the cheapest custom miniram? I'm not worried about it making power. I know a log can make as much as I need for a while but I love the look of rams and minirams...I don't want to spend over like 350 on a manifold really...so if you can tell me who custom makes mini's for that much then I'll get one...otherwise, I'm probably going to get the ebay one and weld the shit out of it and brace it really good.
