y8 vs a6 for boost

I was wondering.. I got a 90 Si.

I really wanted to do a y8, but I was thinking it might not be worth the trouble to convert everything to ODB0. So I'm probably just going to go with an a6.

My plans are vitaras, eagle rods, bolt-ons, turbo kit, etc. But I was wondering if it will make comparable power to the y8? Or is it worth it to convert everything and just go OBDII.

I plan on getting a ODB0->OBDI conversion harness so I can get tuned on CROME, so whatev.. Tell me what you guys think.

turbo a6 block will be more suitable.
stick with the a6 :TU:
just boost the a6...
a6 block y8 head like me
A6 and y8 are capable of the same power. the A6 is slightly easier to tune because there is no vtec. and vtec doesnt mean higher power. vtec is for fuel economy. the only other motor besides the a6 i would consider dropping in is the Z6 or a sohc zc.
arent there issues with the y8 rod bearings?

anyway...reppin VA 703 son

shitty oil pump

a6 z6 zc's > y-7/8

The oil pumps seem to shit out after awhile and then you spin bearings like there is no tommorow.
Yeah, I'm picking up an ODBI dizzy & conversion harness for an OBDI ecu. I'm getting tuned on CROME.
WELL, I'm hearing a lot of mixed shit.

So many people tell me that z6's are so much better than a6's?

More opinions on whats really better? I mean, if it costs me a little more its all good..
it comes down to your preference from what you hear as you can see almost all your replies are for z6 and a6 where I prefer y7/y8 over all
mmmhm, i guess its going to come down to what i can find first for a good price.

well... it depends on what you want.. vtec or no vtec.. z6 head and z6 intake mani flow better stock then any other 1.6 d series motor...

the ONLY reason a z6 is better then a a6 is because of the vtec and thats only because it has low cam where it gets good gas mileage and good performance.. then it has a better high cam....

look at big tuna.. he made more power on a a6 with less mods then he did with a z6 with more mods...

non vtec is easier to tune.. less stuff to worry about breaking like vtec motors.. a6 ftw imo

Well, i'm getting the head P&P'd and getting a ZEX cam, so it should flow as well as a z6 head.
