drop and swap, nothing needed.

But when you undo the slave cylinder, just lay it by the passenger headlight, DO NOT UNDO the hyd. line.

Save time to not undo it, but as a matter of convenience...id rather have it out of theway

time spent bleading brakes<peace of mind of not bending any hydraulic lines

I have the Y7 with a Y8 tranny in my hatch right now (well this motor is gone in a couple weeks....new motor going in :) ) It is a direct swap but like they have already mentioned it is a good idea to replace the clutch when doing the swap.
The Y8 Tranny works great with the Y7 and you will notice a difference in performance. Just with the tranny swap my car is faster due to the close gear ratios...made quite a difference!

WTF Dude, we are talking trannys, your talking brakes.

What page you on????

FYI the rubber line from the pass. side frame rail to the hardline at the tranny folds nicely.

50+ trannys dropped, only had to bleed one due to a dead slave sucking air.

Are the fifth gears comparable in Y7 and Y8 tranny's? I'm swapping a Y8 trans into my 98 hatch, but would like to keep a long fifth for highway cruising (I drive alot). Also, what are the final drive ratios for the two? Thanks for the info.
