alright just did some more searching. adn supposedly this is what i got

"correct, the y8/y7 crank is the same minus the oiling holes compared to the z6/a6 crank. the keyway is not the same in relation to the crankpulley. nor is the crank pulley of the y8/y7 the same as the z6 for timing marks vs keyway location."

i have a y7 block. So a y8 crank will fit in the block with no problems right? crank pulley/key way should be the same too right?

yes that will be fine, you may want to have your mains honed and the journals on the crank measured to be sure that everything is in spec

the keyway being referred to there i believe is for the cam gear
the timing marks on the y8/y7/y5 crank pulley are 10-12-14
the timing marks on 88-95 pulleys are 14-16-18
