OK, took my car to the dynojet dyno today...

My car is a 2000 cx, with a Y8 head, chipped P28 with crome

We wired up vtec since that was the only code I was throwing when I got there.

Then I was throwing code 22 but only after doing a pull, and vtec NOT kicking in.

Motor put down 84whp until 5400 rpms, and then drops off quick.

So after checking wires and even the vtec filter, I started thinking about this oil jet issue.
I read online, and people say Y7 don't have it? wtf

OK so any ideas why my vtec isn't kicking in? I'm stumped

i would think that the y7 has the oil jet. you didn't pull it out?
haha that's the tricky part

when I bought the car 20,000 miles ago, it had this Y8 head on it already.

So I have no clue if it's there. I really don't want to pull off the head unless I have to. lol

yeah, headgasket, and new oil...
but also a lot of time that I could avoid if someone could just tell me the correct answer. =P

I will be pretty amazing if nobody has a picture of their Y7 block, showing if there is a little POS that I need to remove or not.

There is a piece that you need to remove...problem is, we dont know if you removed it without you taking the head off...

i did a little research and i couldn't find anything that said the Y7 had an oil jet.

What i do know is that there are 6 wires that needed to be hooked up. you might wanna check these to make sure.

1 for knock sensor
2 for vtec pressure switch
1 for vtec solinoid
2 for idle air control valve

as far as I know, knock sensor and OBD1 doesnt mix =P

I already fixed the IACV issue, it's repinned and working great!

As far as the other 2, like I said, A4 and D6 on the ECU, and one is grounded (if I remember correctly =P )

I guess the y7 doesnt have one then...i was almost sure that it had it...If you've still got an engine code vtec wont engage though...

Have you checked to make sure the solenoid is even good?

In the honda-tech thread i posted, I go over that

we ran power through the solenoid and it was clicking, which is it working I assume

i'm running a y7/y8. ran it on the p2p ecu for a while, then boosted it using the p28 ecu. but im obviously not running the stock p28 map.

there is NO oil jet in a y7 block. end of story.

any other questions ask me and i will clarify them for you

I did the same swap, there is no oil jet in the y7 block. 22 is a vtec pressure valve. make sure the wires went to the right connections on the ecu. if they are correct, make sure you are using a vtec map or it might be your vtec pressure switch. I think its just a wireing issue

Well just to clarify, I am using the wiring scheme that is on FF tech

http://www.ff-squad.com/tech/wiring/wiring.92-95.jpg

so I have A4 at the ECU running to the vtec solenoid
and D6 running to the blue wire on the pressure switch.
black wire on the pressure switch grounded out.

we even straight up tapped the vtec to the battery during a run, and it still never crossed over. !!!!
