I am having my Si tranny rebuilt and I thought while it was getting rebuilt, I could put a HF 5th gear in it and keep the highway rpms down.
What do you thing?

Might have found my answer:
5th gear-----FD------45------60------80------100---
0.702------4.058---1898---2530---3373---4217--
0.702------4.250---1988---2650---3533---4417--HF
0.750------4.250---2123---2831---3775---4718--
0.771------4.250---2183---2910---3880---4850--Si
0.878------4.250---2486---3314---4419---5523--

Maybe it isn't worth it. Looks like only about 300 rpm difference.

LOL, you know how old that info is?????

Like 1997-1998, good to see my info still being used though :)
Just doing a little research.

Do you think it is worth it to put the HF 5th in an Si tranny?

yes and no.

1.6L = yes
1.5L = no

>70 mph highway = yes
<65 mph highway = no

.771 is fun, at 70 mph just stab and steer, hurts mileage a little.

Driver habits make the biggest difference.
Hoping to build an A6 turbo with Si tranny and LSD(leaning towards OBX).

A6 on crack, I mean boost, .702 will be fine.....

My price on 5th gearsets is $25 shipped.......a trade for your old .771 or buying it back later if I need it is possible....
Is it an HF 5th gearset?
