I bought a new radio for my 99' Honda Civic EX. Being as stupid as I am, I cut the factory harness towards the very end cause I never thought I would ever use that radio again. So I was wiring the new one up and I came across a problem. There are 5 wires left from the factory radio and the new radio has only 3 wires left. Of course, the wires that I need to figure out are the Ignition (yellow), Ground (black), and the Battery (red). I have no clue where to hook those to though. The wires I have left from the factory are: yellow w/ red strip, white w/ blue strip, red, red w/ black strip and then a black one. Which ones go where?

eek, your gonna need a helms manual. that will tell exactly what each one is. but seriously you need to invest in getting a new radio harness. and just using an adapter.

wow. to this day i dont know why people do that.

i mean, at least once a week i would have to repair someones factory harness. then the install would cost almost double. all because they didnt want to spend 20 bucks on a harness.

the best is when people think the universal color code on the back of the aftermarket radio is supposed to match the OEM colors.

x10000000000000000000000. I used to hate it when I did installs and people would bring cars in like that. The best thing though would be the look on people's faces when I worked at Best Buy. If someone brought in a car with the harness cut we would charge them for a new harness in the car to replace the cut one, then for the one for the install, plus labor.

Harness adapters FTW. Unhook the factory radio and remove. Solder the harness adapter to the aftermarket stereo on your workbench (or dining room table! :) ). Hook the adapter to your factory harness and mount the radio.

Easy - and quick to return to stock.

why don't you just snip out a harness from a junkyard and color match it to what is in your car. then buy the damn 20 dollars harness from circuit city

heres the break down
red- switched 12v
yellow-constant 12v
black-ground
blue-power antenna
blue/white-amp turn on
orange-illumination

The rest are your speakers. you can fin out which one by taking a 9v battery and touching the leads to each side. Hope this helps a little.
