I'm going to assume you mean D17A2 because I've never heard of a Y2 nor can I find proof of its existence anywhere. I'm also a bit confused because I'm pretty sure the PLE4 head is off a JDM D17A and the PLE8 is off the D17A2. If the info I have here is correct (someone tell me if I'm wrong), the head you want to swap onto the block (the PLE8) is actually the original one for the engine. So yes, it would work.
so....the effort to remove the head and replace it with another (unknown condition) head is simpler than running a straight edge on it to even see if its bad? or taking it to a machine shop if it is? how do you know the block isn't warped....then what?
