Which Main and Rod bearing to get from Honda??
Hi guys,
I need help here. I will say this first, Im getting OEM parts nothing else period. I went to Honda dealer to pick up Main and Connecting Rod bearings for my Vitara/Ealge/Turbo project. Im starting to gather parts to build my z6 block. When I talked to the part guy at Honda, he showed me 2 types of main and rod bearings with color coded. I dont know which one part# and which color i should get so if you guys know which is the correct main and rod bearings for my z6 block please help me out here. Thanks a lot guys!!

you are going to get shafted buying from your local dealer...

bust out your Helms and follow the instructions on buying bearings. standard ACLs are equivilant to OEM Greens FYI

I got a question as well.. I am considering buying the following.
D16 Boost Bottom End Kit
---$240 shipped (Vitara pistons, Hastings rings, wrist pins/clips, main engine bearings (KING), rod bearings (KING), metal headgasket)
Should I do this? Or would I be better off just buying Vitaras w/ Hastings rings then getting OEM main and rod bearings.. then going with a Cometic?

2Civic3 - Ryan is right. Use your factory service manual (Helms Manual) to plastigauge your bearings. The manual will show you what colors to buy from your dealer. Bearings from the dealer are not cheap! Inspect your existing bearings well, reuse those that you can, and buy only what you need. www.helminc.com for factory service manuals. Also any of the aftermarket bearings are kind of a "one size fits okay" solution. They are fine if you are having machine work done, as the machine shop can polish as need to make the bearing clearances correct. If you are rebuilding yourself, use the manual and the OEM bearing halves.

If you don't mind, you seem to have a good idea of some things..
1) Are the Vitaras okay? I was contemplating coating them so they'd be more enduring to heat. I'm hoping for ~250whp, but anything extra is just icing on the cake.
2) When getting the block machined, should I get it decked so the Vitaras are more level? If so, how much would you recommend? Any more information on necessary machine work would be appreciated, etc.

only thing i did different was go with forged pistons
This week im going to send my bottom end to a machine shop to rebuild it. Will they be able to tell me which Main and Rod bearings color i need when the bottome end is done?
