Which ECU would be better to run with my d16a6/y8 minime?

I know that the best one would be to convert to obd1 and run p28 and that is on my to do list. But this weekend, I'm heading out to the 1/4 mile track. I have the stock PM6, PG7 and PR4 ecu from the integra. the pg7 ecu seems to run stronger than the stock pm6 but what about the pr4 ecu? would I be wasting gas? is it safe?

This is my setup:
stock d16a6 block
d16y8 head with stock cam w/ Adj. AEM Cam Gear (not sure if it's the z6 cam gear or the y8 cam gear. Putting it at 0 seems to run weak on low end so I leave it at 4.5 degrees advanced runs strong from about 2k to 4k then good pull from 4 - 5.5 then vtec sets in)
Stock exhaust, stock cat (probably clogged cause vtec isn't pulling as it should, will gut out before track day)
stock muffler
short ram intake.

sockted PS9 if staying OBD0.

your set up is pretty much teh same as what we did in my bros 90 hatch
Only the P28 has Vtec.
I think the PR3 and P0W has vtec also and are obd0 but I'm using the apexi vafc for my vtec and air/fuel ajustments. I know it's not very good but I had it already so I didn't want to spend anymore money on it since I'm planning to go OBD1 anyways.

I would just like to know what other people who had a similar setup who stayed obd0 were using.

Which car did that come out of? I can't find any on ebay.. is it pretty rare?
I'm thinking about the PR3 or PW0
wow.... hahaha well if u want hook Vtec to the High Beams or windshield wipers for the track do that... why dont u just socket the PM6 or PM7 and use the A/C output signal in TurboEDIT or BRE and activate Vtec of of that and tune it on a single map (best bang for the buck and easy way)(Vtec on a single map works if u set 0% throttle threshhold for Vtec Cross over and you know what you r doing to tune) run the Vtec wire to the A/C output off of the ECU and click the option in BRE / TurboEDIT to Activate Vtec and your Done, there is a OK basemap for that specific reason on Xenocron.com/Bins/

Well that sounds like a good idea. Again, from the ecus that I have on hand: PR4 (non-vtec), PM6, PG7 which ecu should I run for best performance. As I said, I will convert to OBD1 and run chipped P28 but I am going to the 1/4th mile track this Saturday. I will only get 3 runs max if I stay late I would like to run 1 ecu on all 3 runs and try a little tuning that way.

90-91 Civic Sedan EX auto tarnny.
yeah fairly rare, my bro has his for sale, with a mini me(some what tuned) chip in it, Turbo edit and datalog port
Okay, so after reading a bit more it seems like vafc will not give me what i need. I was thinking about running the PR4 since it probably uses more fuel because it's from a 1.8l. Then use the vafc to tune down the fuel until vtec engages. Run my cam gear at 2degrees retard and ignition at 18-19 degrees btdc. Does that sound like it will work?
wow... more power to u... di it that way and see... but fix the Vtec problem shortly, Vtec wont engage unless there are 12V being supplied to the sylinoid

What are you talking about? My vtec engages fine. I never said anything about my vtec not working.

Do you happen to have a dyno graph? How was it? What mods did you have?

sorry, i never got it tuned or to the track before i wrecked the car.

I had a jg 85vt35 cam, skunk cam gear, DC header, FPR, ported head, match ported IM, Big bore JG TB.....it felt like a stock GSR motor to me.

That might be the direction I'm headed. Either that or boosted. Hopefully soon I can just use this useless vafc for monitoring and rice
the vafc isnt so bad...just need a wide band to tune
