About a year and a half ago i hydrolocked my y8 in my 96 ex, i ordered a new one and when i got it it wasnt a y8, it was a y6 from new zealand, had an auto manifold on it. Anyways, now that the engine is in the car will not rev past 5300 rpms. Guessing an ecu issue. Does anyone know which ecu i should use to fix this issue? I cant find any info for a y6 its like they dont exist.

Do you have a Check Engine Light on?

The Y6 should be the same as a Y8.

No check engine light at all.

Does the CEL work?

Yes, its came on recently for iac valce which i just replaced, reset and now its off. Only showed a code for the iac as well

why did you replace the IACV? 90% of the time, they are simply dirty, or something electrical is goofy.


Have you tried removing the spool valve (vtec solenoid) on the back of the cylinder head, and checking for garbage?


If you find metal, your engine is hurt.
