"Where to buy"

Is there a "where to buy" parts thread??
I am looking to build an A6 turbo from the block up. But don't know where to buy all the parts from.
I didn't know if some places were better than others, or what parts are better, etc.

Does that mean you want full internals? Turbo manifold? Intake manifold? Specify. There are plenty of sites out there where you can get certain parts from.

TunerToys.com
ImportPerformanceParts.net
atpTurbo.com

Yes I will want to do full internals. The A6 that I am going to buy has 200K miles on it and needs to be rebuilt soon. So I figured why not? Unless it is not worth it. I want to build a reliable everyday driver, 200hp would be nice.

Well that is good. I was wondering if I was going to get flamed?
I guess now would be a good time to start a list. :)
ebay...or you could do the ls rod thing with forged internals and I think what PM3 pistons I'm not to sure

Sent. I remember I bought my bearings from you guys and you sent me a t-shirt that says, "Get Blown" on the back.

Well, TunerToys rods and Vitaras have been working for just about everyone that has been using them AND they're at a GREAT price... so there's a start. If you want reliability... make sure your build is flawless and your ECU tune is done by a pro.

Looks like those are what I will be going with then. Thanks for your help.

Yep I was refered to that site last night! Looks like I will be reading over there.
you wont need ls pistons of vitaras to make 200whp. you could make that on the stock block.

The motor has 205,000 miles on it. I figured I will rebuild before I put the turbo on.
Shouldn't I just go ahead and replace the pistons and rods while I am in there?
If your oil pressure and compression are both good, and you aren't burning any oil from the valve seals (let it run 65 in 5th for a few minutes, then throw it in 3rd and floor it... if it smokes, you are leaking from the valve seals), why waste the money rebuilding the block? 200hp is peanuts on the stock block. If you wanted to hit 300, I'd suggest TT rods and Vitara's, but thats just not necessary if your engine has been maintained well. My Z6 has 150K on it, and it has great compression, good oil pressure, and doesn't burn much... I'll be turboing it w/o a rebuild.
www.rageimports.com these guys are awesome people, and they can get you pretty much anything you need
