where do you guys get your clay when you are claying your engine for clearances?Should i just go to a craft store?I have a crap load of playdoe(got kids)LOL.But i think it might not be the right constinstancy.

I want to clay a .060 milled z6 head on a 0 decked z6 block and a crower stg 2 cam.Just to see what my clearances are going to be at.:bigok:

the clay is just playdoe, just spray what your putting it on with a little wd40 first so it doesnt stick the engine parts

i use tootsie rolls as funny as that sounds, they come wrapped in wax paper so they dont stick, they are hard enought to keep the shape even when mic'ing them, and when your done you CAN EAT them. just use a little ball of strip caulk to hold them to the piston were the valve relife is and crankt it over

I thought you couldn't use playdoe because it springs a little back after being compressed giving bad readings. That's what I was taught in engine class anyway. Good modeling clay or even tootsie rolls work the best.
