Yay! My JDM D15B is here!
Only question is.....What year is it?

I already know its the OBD2 3 Stage Vtec, so that puts it somewhere between 96 and 00.

Its just that Ive read a couple of places that say there is a stamp somewhere on the block or head that tells me the year.

Anyone know where that is on the d15b?
Heres pics if it helps........

Any info is appreciated, thanks again.

can't see your pics, but i will give the info to you....

if there is a VIN tag on the back of the block, you can translate the vin tag to get the build date and location. the info is for the car, but it will give you an approximate date of the engine.

to be honest, your engine could have been built in 95, but not used till 97. it just depends when the engine finally got pulled out of the crate. just saying....

edit: both H-T and honda-swap have the vin code "de-coder" info. i am just to lazy to swap it over right now.

you know, i have never actually found one of those.

i know, i am a fail. :(
Naaa, your not a fail......I'm sure you know all sorts of useful sh*t that no one has asked you about yet.

Anyways.....the two circles on the left of the manifold indicated november of 99. Sweetness. Considering japan is a year ahead in labeling motors....its a 98.

Now I know. Thanks for the info guys.

i see a 97 in the picture
and if its a jdm stamp thats the f'in year it came out in japan
they didn't invent this one year ahead thing just to confuse you
they dont stamp manufacturing dates ahead by a year
the us market is just behind by approximately that much.
if its stamped '97 it was in a car and out for sale within 6 months for sure
IN JAPAN...(hence the perilous claim to fame JDM D15B)

guess what...news flash for you...
1991 crx sir in japan had a b16a vtec...and yep...vtec came out in us in '92
wanna guess what the stamp on the head is...here's a hint...its not 90...
