I have a ZC non vtec block. I hear people say it's the same as the D16a6, however, I just wanted to verify if I could use other OEM thermostats that are more accessible like the 1901-PM3-306?

I need a stock thermostat ASAP. :willy_nilly:

Yes the nonVTEC ZC is a D16A6, but D series use the same thermostat any ways. Just different gaskets

D's use two different Tstats....one for the normal cars, the other for HF/VX IIRC...

HF/HX/VX use a 195 but those could still be used in the other engines too

but would cause a loss of power due to timing retard because of higher ECT's.

OR...if adjusted for, might help in fuel atomization and getting better gas mileage.

All D15Beast7 secrets have not been mentioned :)

No ECT retard table will have different values for 190, 195 or even 215F. The stock S300 table reads zero at 177F and the next step is zero at 300F. ECT is mostly for extra fuel when cold, IAT is what does most timing corrections when stuff gets too hot.

Chances are that hotter t-stat has been replaced with the normal t-stat.
