I got 4 trannies, left to right: '00 EX (blue one), '91 SI, '00 LX and finally '93 CX. Somebody got an idea about what gear combos I can do ? I could make some sacrifices to get the ultimate one.

Thank you !

If he doesn't swap the EX 5th out for the Si 5th, his 4-5 shift is gonna be lame.

And it's not like .771 is all that close of a ratio for 5th. Heck, it's a better 5th than the EX 5th period.
how is it "a better 5th than the EX 5th"? is it made from different materials? is it known for breaking more than a si's 5th?

when will you ever do any racing in 5th gear. i dont even get to 5th and i have a 4.9 fd ex tranny.

if its not that close of a ratio they why even bother spending the time cracking the si open when he can sell it. he could easily put that money to use in other ways to make the car faster.

first of he has three different generations of transmission, need to know what chassis it's gonna be installed in.

Then also need to see what kind of "fun" he has with the car.

3.250 to 1.762 shift is not that bad, but if your going from a 40 mph drop, it's nice to have, makes 3rd that much closer. I took a B16 99/00 Si tonight from 50 mph.........3.722 FD DX 1-2, ZC 3-4-5, I didn't need 4th gear :)

With current tranny 50 mph in second = 5000 rpm, shift @ 6500 rpm into 3rd, rpms only fall to 5000 rpm, same thing for 3-4 shift.

Need more info before gear swapping can be decided on.

It will be installed in a '99 EK sedan, with y7 slightly moded, rpm range will be in 3500 to 7500, and after dyno, i'm hopping for 130-140whp.

Having too long of a 5th can be a bad thing. With my .771 5th I don't need to downshift on the highway to pass.

EX case
DX 1-2
Si 3rd
CX 3rd as 4th
Si 5th
EX 4.25 FD and diff

I'm just guessing that this combo will work. :)

Then sell the Si using the Si case, Si 1-2, EX 3rd, Si 4th, EX 5th, Si FD and diff.

Holly shit, your gears are so close !

I think I will rebuilt a fresh EX tranny with new bearing and seal, and maybe try to find some 13 inches and some nice low profile tire, my friend got something like that on his b16A, and 13 inches wheels with small tire run like much shorter final drive :)

thanx anyways for the advices, but I don't think I have gears who worth troubles to swap them after this talk.
