i have 97 civic lx with a d16y7 motor oe. ok my question is, i was giving a head with casting numbers po8-1. i know its vtec. can this head work on that d16y7 block? and if so, can it make good power. p.s. car is a factory 5 speed, anything good about that ? oh ya one stupid question, if i lock vtec in so its working all the time, will it run???? thanks for all help.

P08-anything is a head from a D16Z6. In all of my research, as far as anyone knows, the number after the dash just represents which assembly line it was on at the factory.

Yes that head can work.

Yes it can make good power.

That trans is good for that it was designed for which is economy.

Why go through the trouble of switching to a Z6 and locking the rockers when you can just put a beefy cam in the Y7.



Think that's all the questions.
