I'm swapping out an open diff with a Quaife on my s20/z6 tranny and the factory manual does not state any torque settings. Anyone have a hard ft-lbs torque number for me?

PS. Traszex, breaking apart the tranny was cake. having the factory manual is key.

the info IS in the factory manual, skip ahead a few chapters :)

Should be chapter 15 or 16

13 = manual tranny
14= automatic tranny

I'll GUESS at 70 ft/lbs...... LH threads also.

Check the threads for damage before threading them back in, the tend to get messed up due to slight hole mismatch on the ring gear, even from the factory.

myself, I don't use a torque wrench on them, too hard to keep the diff from spinning.

I use the same setting on my air impact as I do when mounting the wheels, #2 @ 100 psi = 70-75 ft/lbs. I torque my wheels to 85 ft/lbs with a wrench after it is back on the ground.

But I know MY impact gun.
