replace the shifter, bad orings (stock I assume)
adjust the valves....and keep driving.
Without jumping time it's almost impossible to tag the valves on a overrev like that. My current motor has seen 9500+ on missed 2-3 shifts, maybe why is still runs so good. Those missed shifts occured in 1998....or was it 1997?
