So I rebuilt a D16Z6 that I got out of a junkyard. Had machine work done and I regret now that i used a rebuild kit that was not from honda (Engine Performance Warehouse). My engine sounds good but it seems like after I put the engine in my car.. everything is sounding tingy. I think a lot of it is due to the transmission (also from the junkyard). I think the transmission is in need of repair including an input shaft bearing at the minimum. My car did not sound like this before i switched out the previous D16Z6.

What are some things I can do to make car sound really clean and smooth? I know my car can sound way better and I think it should from all the money I put into the rebuild.

I have a stock exhaust and an AEM CAI.

You mean exhaust noise, or noise from the engine itself? If the motor is making noise, you might have some problems.

Does "tingy" mean spark knock? Bearings? ...

Adjust the valves? Did you over bore the cylinders? Timing cover on?

If by tingy you mean "tinny" it could be as simple as a heat shield around the cat or something. Or can you hear it directly from the motor?
