I am a noob to most of this and just want some questions answered. I am wondering if the 5+SL transmission from the 4WD Wagon could be rebuilt with something like the five gears from an Si tranny then a longer 6th gear for fuel economy on highyway. I don't think the gears could actually be taken from the Si or ZC transmission but I'm not sure about custom gears. If someone knowledgeable about this stuff could help me out it would be great. I also don't know how the 4WD system works on this car. If I could rebuild this like I want I would like to drop it in my EF hatch with either a ZC or B16A swap. How hard would the conversion be to just hook it up to front wheel drive?

Far as ive ever known the 6 speed is really a 3 speed with high and low for each gear if that makes a difference for swaping gears, probly. as for 4wd, works like pretty much every 4wd setup. fwd unless the tires spin then the rear wheels lock-in until they are spinning as fast as the front. then it returns to fwd.
